About the Job
The Hampton Roads Connector Partners JV (HRCP) consisting of Dragados, VINCI, and Flatiron has been selected to construct the $3.3bn Design Build project –the largest civil construction contract ever awarded by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).
The project scope across a 9 mile section of the I-64 will include: a new 3.5-mile bridge-tunnel crossing that will accommodate a total of 8 lanes of capacity across the water, replacement of the existing marine approach bridges and the addition of a third lane on I-64 in each direction. The twin 45’ diameter 1.5-mile tunnels will be bored by TBM, creating the second largest TBM tunnel opening for a TBM in North America. The project is expected to continue to the end of 2025.
As a Batch Plant Operator, you oversee the mixing process, ensure that the batch meets the customer's order, and check the batch against specifications and regulations on the requirements of each concrete type. On a typical workday as a Batch Plant Operator, you monitor the constant activity inside the factory.
Resposibilities:
- Must be able to produce on-time & in-spec concrete for the customer
- Prints out delivery tickets on each truck/load and file
- Must be able to operate plant controls and programs
- Responsible for daily inspection of facilities, do necessary repairs and will complete maintenance checklist
- The asphalt operator must be available to work days, nights and Saturdays if needed
- Perform all job duties in accordance with OSHA, WSHA, DOLSH and company policies
- Keeping accurate inventory of cement, fly ash, admixtures, aggregates
- Maintain proper raw material levels and order as needed (aggregates, cement, additives)
- Competently use, adjust and troubleshoot Command Alkon software
- Load aggregate material into batch plant
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role working in a pavements environment on a large scale civil construction project
- Sound technical knowledge of foam bitumen production and placement specifications
- Competent in planning, organizing and prioritizing work tasks
- Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised in a busy working environment
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain good working relationships internally and externally
- Competent problem solving and analytical skills
- Requires experience to recognize various products by sight and to understand proper plant operation
- Requires a minimum of 1-3 years of experience in batch plant operation
- Must be familiar with the material manufacturing process the safety and environmental issues related to ready mix
- Mechanical knowledge a must
- Previous related experience as a Batch Plant Operator
