Job Overview
The purpose of this position is to retain our guests by ensuring they have a great experience when dining at Georgia Blue. As a bartender, you must be friendly, outgoing and possess good communication skills. A guest's dinner and/or bar experience should be enjoyable and you play a major role in the overall picture. Remember, consistency is a key element in a positive experience. We achieve this by always following recipes. Your individual personality should shine through- use it to your advantage. You should be organized, able to think, and act quickly and effectively while retaining self-composure. Be guest sensitive and possess a sense of timing. General Responsibilities
- Welcome each guest personally within 30 seconds
- Check identification of guests to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol
- Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of food and beverage products, menus, and promotions.
- Communicate with guests using clear and enthusiastic words, tones, and body language at all times. Make guests feel appreciated through your actions.
- Work as a team with all staff in order to maintain an effective atmosphere and an efficient food and beverage service.
- Work with others to keep all areas cleaned and stocked to Georgia Blue's standards at all times.
- Maintain cleanliness in all areas of the bar including counters, sinks, utensils, glassware, shelves, and storage areas.
- Assist with all opening duties, closing duties, and any necessary side work during the shift.
- Make sure all bar glassware is cleaned and restocked before during and after the shift.
- Clear and reset tables in the bar area.
- Mix, garnish, and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for all guests, consistent with Georgia Blue's standard drink recipes.
- Ring drink orders into the computer immediately, collect money from guests for drinks served, and make change.
- Be attentive! Offer your assistance before the guest has to ask for it.
- Anticipate your guest's needs. Be alert of guest signals (raising a hand, looking directly at you, etc), and acknowledge the guest so they know you will be right with them
- Learn your guests' names, occupations, and favorite drinks. This will make Georgia Blue a special place for them and they will continue to return.
- Responsible service of alcohol. Know when a guest has become intoxicated and how to handle the situation. Do not hesitate to ask for management intervention if necessary.
- Must take and pass the menu test by the end of training. Employees have two opportunities to take and pass the menu tests. Failure to do so may result in termination.
Job Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Must be 21 years of age
Experience:
- Previous bartending experience is required unless we promote a server from within.
- Outgoing personality, positive attitude, and strong oral communication skills.
- Positive interpersonal skills required.
- Sound judgment and solid leadership skills and experience.
- Strong knowledge of restaurant operations, service procedures, and function.
- Have a working knowledge of beer, wine, and liquor, and common drink recipes.
- Possess basic math skills and have the ability to handle money and operate a cash register.
- Must speak English fluently and be able to write in Basic English.

- Help maintain and update list of needed supplies
Discretion/Independent Judgment
This position does represent the company in handling complaints, arbitrating disputes, or resolving grievances. As a Georgia Blue bartender you will be expected to work with guests and visitors to ensure satisfaction. A Georgia Blue bartender will have to take initiative and get creative in resolving guest challenges and involve a manager only when previous methods have been unsuccessful.

Physical Requirements

Working Conditions

- Varied weather conditions are expected
- Will work near moving or mechanical parts
- May work near toxic/caustic chemicals and with fumes or airborne particles.
- Varying schedule to include evenings, holidays, and extended hours as business dictates
Appearance/Uniform Standard
- Grey long sleeve button-down shirt with a black vest (sleeves may be rolled) tucked in with a black belt, black non-denim pants/slacks (without holes or frayed edges), server apron, black crew socks, and closed-toed black slip-resistant shoes.
- Any undershirt must be short-sleeved and white
- No facial piercings
- Men must keep facial hair well groomed
- All hair long enough to touch the shoulder must be pulled back and restrained
