TheBartender ("Camarero/a")position provides a courteous, timely and professional service in the restaurant, shows complete knowledge of all menus and pricing, as well as a proactive, customer-oriented attitude. Welcome our guests with a smile and with a friendly, courteous greeting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Cordially and professionally presents menu, answers questions, and makes suggestions regarding food and service.
• Employs suggestive selling techniques to stimulate sales.
• Actively observes diners to respond to any additional requests and to determine when meal has been completed.
• Checks with the guest after 3-4 minutes after serving the meals, in order to ensure guest satisfaction.
• Follows cash and credit card handling policies at all times.
• Is responsible for entire section of tables (cleanliness, sanitation, organization, etc.).
• Is responsible for complete knowledge of menus, including cooking time, ingredients, etc.
• Performs additional duties and responsibilities as directed by the leadership team.
• Sets up for bar service for the entire day, including day time and evening.
• Ensures that sufficient equipment is on hand so that the area can be neatly maintained.
• Is knowledgeable of brands of liquor and spirits available in the bar.
• Is well-versed in wine, including presentation.
• Adheres to proper pours, standards, laws, and use of jiggers.
• Ensures that the bar/lounge is stocked and re-stocked with clean and sanitized glassware, utensils and all other related supplies.
• Responsible for maintaining clean and organized bar pantries, work areas, and tables.
• Responsible for the safe, accurate and temperature-controlled storage of all products, supplies and sundries.
• Slice and pit fruit for garnishing drinks.
• Performs additional duties and responsibilities as directed by the leadership team.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 1-2 years of relevant experience in a high-end environment.
• Ability to serve restaurant tables following the proper steps of service.
• A combination of experience, education, and/or training may be substituted for either requirement.
• Previous similar position in a hotel, or similar business entity preferred.
• Must be able to attain a valid San Diego County Food Handler certification upon hire. Evans Hotels will provide this training and is to be completed at the company’s expense.
• RBS certification required.
• Ability to always maintain a friendly, professional, team-oriented, positive demeanor and diplomatic attitude, especially under stress or challenges.
• Availability to work on weekends and holidays is required.
• Ability to stand, kneel, squat for prolonged periods of time, up to and including, the entire shift and lift up to 25 lbs.
• The following position will be filled in accordance with the process set forth in California Labor Code Section 2810.8 and San Diego Municipal Code 311.0101 et. seq.
