Barista - Willow Valley Communities

Willow Valley Communities is hiring a Barista to be responsible for preparing and serving quality hot and cold beverages and food products with a high attention to accuracy and detail. This highly customer service focused position requires a positive attitude and ability to create a warm and welcoming environment for customers, while providing excellent customer service at all times.

Wage:

• $15.50/hr

Responsibilities:

• Interacts positively with customers by welcoming them and determining their coffee interests and needs and by presenting and explaining the coffee drink menu. Answers questions and offers recommendations. Prepares and sells coffee drinks by following prescribed recipes and preparation techniques for coffee drinks, such as, espresso, caffe lattes, and cappuccinos.
• Maintains composure during high pressure periods and has the ability to multitask.
• May be required to work well independently as well as with a team.
• Is responsible for light prep including the preparation of sandwiches and salads and in some cases, light baking.
• Prepares the venue for daily operations and closes the venue, assuring all duties and clean-up process is followed.
• Determines production needs and assists with inventory and ordering.
• Cleans counters, cases, drop stations and dining areas and maintains overall cleanliness throughout the day.
• Maintains inventories and supplies, pastries, and cookies for coffee bar.
• Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance.
• Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following organization standards and sanitation regulations.
• Enhances coffee shop reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
• Operates a point of sale system and is responsible to balance a cash drawer daily.
• Checks identity of guests to verify age requirements when selling alcohol.

Qualifications:

• Barista experience or 1 year related experience
• Evidence of a strong customer service background with excellent skills in listening and verbal communication
• Organized and creative
• Has strong organizational skills and can handle multiple tasks at one time and work successfully as part of a team

Hours:

• 20 hours/week

Schedule:

• Monday-Friday 10:00am-2:00pm
