ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Barback for one of the hotel's restaurants, you will assist with various tasks to maintain a well-stocked bar, help the bar run smoothly, assist our bartenders so they can focus on crafting and serving drinks, and create a pleasant environment for our guests. This position is ideal for individuals who are looking to gain experience in the hospitality and bartending industry. Hard work and attention detail in this role contributes to the overall success of the bar and the satisfaction of its guests.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Stocking: Restock the bar with liquor, beer, wine, mixers, garnishes, glassware, and other supplies to ensure bartenders have everything they need during their shift
- Cleaning and Organizing: Maintain a clean and organized bar area, including cleaning glasses, utensils, and bar equipment, as well as disposing of empty bottles and trash
- Preparing Garnishes: Cut fruit, prepare garnishes, and ensure all garnishes are readily available for bartenders to use in cocktails
- Handling Glassware: Wash, dry, and organize glassware to keep the bar fully stocked
- Assisting Bartenders: During busier periods, assist bartenders by taking drink orders, preparing simple cocktails, and helping with customer service
- Changing Kegs: Change empty kegs, ensuring that the bar always has a supply of draft beer
- Maintaining Cleanliness: Ensure the bar area and entire restaurant meets sanitation and hygiene standards
- Security and Customer Service: Help with maintaining a safe and welcoming atmosphere for patrons by monitoring customer behavior and assisting with any customer needs or concerns
Qualifications
- Ability to lift heavy kegs, cases of liquor, and other supplies
- Ability to stand on your feet for up to 8 hours a day
- Attention to detail
- Works well as part of a team, understanding that this is a support role
- Proven ability to efficiently complete tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Adaptable with the ability to handle changes and unexpected situations
- Ability to stay calm among the chaos
- Familiarity with bar tools and equipment is a plus, but not required
