About the Job
We are looking for an observant, efficient barback who can work with other staff members to ensure that our customers receive prompt, seamless service. The bar back will assist in cleaning the bar, preparing garnishes, ensuring the bar is well stocked with napkins, straws, glassware, garnishes, and all other necessities, and taking on other duties to support the bartender and ensure that the bar operates smoothly. You should be knowledgeable about menu items, attentive, and focused on providing the best possible service in a fast-paced environment.
To be a successful barback, you should be passionate about working as part of a team to deliver excellent drinks and service to customers. You should be efficient, reliable, and perceptive with excellent communication and time management skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains high knowledge regarding company's products and happenings events.
- Effectively communicates such to guests
- Maintains the cleanliness of bar, counters, glassware, and utensils
- Stocks the bar initially with liquor, beer, wine, juices, mixes, glassware, utensils, cocktail napkins, garnishes, condiments, etc. and provides aid to the bartenders in re-stocking and maintaining par levels of those items.
- Documents inventory use, spills, and waste accordingly Stocks refrigerating units with wines, beer, etc. Changes empty beer kegs
- Monitors coolers for proper temperature. Reports deficiencies to management in a timely manner
- Maintains adequate supply of ice to all bars
- Empties trash cans at the bars on a regular basis. Ensures all trash cans at the bars are cleaned and lined with garbage bags
- Cleans and stocks the supply room where all bar products are stored
- Notifies manager/supervisor of low inventory and recommends new inventory. Assists bartenders with cleaning and breakdown of the bars at the end of each shift
- Completes all opening, running, and closing duties as assigned
- Assists in training new employees within the department in accordance with company standards
- Follows proper lifting and carrying techniques. Uses equipment when necessary and/or enlists the help of others to lift/transport products and equipment
- Other duties in connection with organizational effectiveness as assigned by the above supervisory staff

- Adheres to all company policies and procedures as established in the Employee Manual & by the department's management
- Participates in continuing education and training to further knowledge base and career potential
- Cooperates with co-workers and management in an effort to continuously maintain organizational effectiveness
- Attends meetings and training sessions as designated
- Complies with uniform standards (i.e. Crew Shirt, nametag, and neat appearance) Maintains regular availability, attendance, and punctuality in accordance with weekly schedule & employment status

- Other duties in connection with organizational effectiveness as assigned by the above supervisory staff

- Provides exceptional customer service to each guest on every occasion in order to achieve customer satisfaction.

Education and Experience:
- Previous experience in a restaurant setting is preferred, but not required.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required
Knowledge and Ability:
- Ability to work at a fast pace and ability to complete routine duties efficiently and on a consistent basis.
- Requires the ability to understand oral and/or written instruction, including product use labels and precautions.
- Ability to accurately complete monetary transactions (i.e. identify American currency, make a change, etc.) Ability to consistently demonstrate trained techniques related to customer service, preparation of edible items, and computer and equipment use.
- Knowledge of the policies and procedures of the company and department.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding towards policy & procedure requirements, standardized situations, and guest interactions.
- Ability to complete routine tasks in accordance with department standards with little variation.
- Ability to complete all assigned tasks satisfactorily.

Physical and Mental Demands:
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a staff member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Regular attendance is required. Routine completion of tasks for periods up to 8 hours or longer includes: Subject to moderate to extreme stress, requires the ability to lift, bend, stoop, reach, carry, pull and push objects of various sizes and weights, up to 10 pounds; independently or with the assistance of equipment and/or others. Subject to noise and effects of varying weather conditions (i.e. cold, heat, direct sunlight, rain, wind) and work is often performed in cramped areas.
- Frequent standing in excess of 5 hours per shift. Use of hands and fingers in the manipulation of objects. Visual ability to distinguish color, distance & depth.
- Ability to adjust visual focus and use peripheral vision. Business demand often requires long work hours. Schedules require workers to work early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
