Job Summary:
The Hotel Banquet Staff is responsible for supporting the smooth operation of banquet events held in the restaurant or hotel, including setting up, serving, and cleaning up during and after the events. This role involves providing exceptional service to guests, ensuring that all banquet-related tasks are executed efficiently, and maintaining the quality of service throughout the event.
Key Responsibilities:
- Event Setup: Assist in setting up banquet rooms and event spaces according to the event specifications. This includes arranging tables, chairs, linens, silverware, glassware, and décor.
- Food and Beverage Service: Serve food and drinks to guests in a professional and timely manner, following the event’s schedule and menu.
- Guest Interaction: Provide excellent customer service by anticipating guest needs, addressing questions, and ensuring a pleasant experience throughout the event.
- Clearing Tables: Clear plates, glasses, and silverware after guests have finished their meals, and prepare tables for the next course or event.
- Assisting with Buffet Stations: Help guests at buffet tables by refilling food items, ensuring cleanliness, and maintaining the overall appearance of the buffet.
- Maintaining Cleanliness: Ensure that all banquet areas are kept clean and organized during the event, including restocking supplies, cleaning spills, and disposing of trash.
- Event Breakdown: After the event, assist in breaking down the setup, including clearing away dishes, folding linens, and removing any equipment or décor used during the banquet.
- Coordinating with Team Members: Work closely with kitchen staff, bartenders, servers, and event coordinators to ensure smooth and efficient service.
- Adhering to Safety Standards: Follow all safety, hygiene, and health regulations during the event to ensure the safety of both guests and staff.
- Handling Guest Requests: Respond to special guest requests or concerns promptly and professionally to enhance their experience.
- Other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the property.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Customer Service Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on providing a positive guest experience.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to pay attention to the details of event setup, food service, and cleanliness.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, carry trays, move heavy items, and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Teamwork: Ability to work well in a team and collaborate with other banquet staff, kitchen staff, and event coordinators.
- Multitasking Abilities: Capable of handling multiple tasks at once, such as serving food, interacting with guests, and clearing tables.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to resolve minor issues during events, such as addressing guest complaints or adjusting the setup.
- Knowledge of Food and Beverage Service: Basic knowledge of food handling, beverage service, and proper etiquette in formal dining settings.
- Time Management: Ability to manage time efficiently, especially during large events with tight schedules.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in food service, hospitality, or banquet events is preferred but not always required.
- Knowledge of banquet-specific setups, menu service, and safety standards is a plus.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in banquet halls or event spaces within the restaurant or hotel, often requiring standing, walking, and lifting.
- The position involves working during evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on the event schedule.
- Banquet staff may be required to work long hours during large events or special occasions.
