POSITION SUMMARY:
Properly set, clean and maintain all function rooms, service corridors, storerooms and public function areas in a safe, accident-free manner. Provide excellent customer service and work closely with guests, Sales, and the Food and Beverage departments.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION:
- Check the server's and house person's BEOs to ensure that all information is accurate.
- Set rooms, buffets, and tables according to BEO specifications and Supervisor instructions. Check electrical hook-ups for proper working order and tape down all exposed cords for equipment in use.
- Perform all guest contact activities or guest requests with a cordial, efficient and professional manner while maintaining a commitment to excellence.
- Ensure that all storerooms are clean, organized and secured. Assist in equipment inventory as scheduled. Attend staff set- up and technical training on a regular basis.
- Organize Banquet rooms to ensure a productive, safe and energy conserving work environment.
- Ensure proper maintenance (cleaning and repair) of all equipment.
- Ensure that all unused rooms are set to department's standards.
- Constantly communicate all concerns to department Manager.
- Assist the servers during service by responding to their requests; notify supervisor immediately of any difficulties.
- Maintain a cooperative, team-like attitude in working with supervisors and fellow associates in all departments.
- Enforce all safety and sanitation procedures including safety guidelines and OSHA requirements.
- Assist with housekeeping duties, including sweeping, mopping, pressure washing common areas.
- Bar-backing or running food as needed to help service all F&B departments.
- Must be able to work independently once given direction.
- Must be available mornings, afternoons, nights, weekends and holidays based on business demands.
DESIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High school education or equivalent experience.
Experience:
- Six months hotel or convention center -banquet food/beverage services environment.
- Experience and knowledge in all facets of banquet operations, convention services setup and a good understanding of AV equipment operations preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- Able to read, speak and understand English.
- Able to lift, push, carry 20 - 50 lbs.
- Stand continuously for long periods of time.
- Communicate information and hotel services to management, staff and guests.
