The Banquet Captain is responsible for the execution of catering functions through the supervision of the catering staff while maintaining the highest standards. The position is also responsible for ensuring the completion of all pre/post event duties and assisting the Banquet Manager with additional assigned duties.

Essential Functions:
Customer Service
- Approaches all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly and service-oriented manner.
- Maintains high standards of personal appearance and grooming.
- Maintains a professional demeanor and acts courteously to all Straz guests, managers, and fellow employees.
Compliance
- Complies with Straz standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations.
- Maintains regular attendance in compliance with Straz standards, as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the facility.
- Ensures compliance with Health Department standards.
Management
- Responsible for all food, beverage, and service procedures.
- Coordinates and supervises the execution of all banquet functions.
- Responsible for the efficiency and productivity of the banquet servers.
- Submits weekly and daily schedules to the General Manager of Food and Beverage in the absence of the Banquet Manager.
- Orders consumable inventory in the absence of the Banquet Manager.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Responsible for training and oversight of all banquet staff.
- This position assists in the supervision of the banquet/catering set up crew.
Other:
- Attends meetings/trainings as required by management.
- Cross trains to support the Beverage and Restaurant departments.
- Functions as Banquet/Catering Set Up Crew Supervisor when needed.
- Works with all departmental managers to ensure the proper communication of all Food and Beverage related issue as they arise.
- Performs other duties as requested.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to lead, motivate and relate to staff, peers, and clients.
- Ability to project a professional demeanor and appearance and communicate effectively with clients and staff.
- Maintain composure in stressful situations.
- Must possess working knowledge of the Straz Center's operational information.
Education and Work Experience:
- At least three years' experience in a comparable facility or related field preferred.
- Aloha or Micros and Caterease experience preferred but not required.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
