Bakery Maintenance Mechanic

Maintains all bakery equipment to ensure safe and efficient bakery operations.

Responsibilities:
Second Shift and weekends. This is a hands-on maintenance mechanic position, not a supervisory position.
Performs preventive maintenance, repairs and installation of bakery equipment including diagnostics of mechanical and electrical systems (PLCs) and performs necessary repairs. Keeps machinery in optimal condition.
Troubleshoots equipment failures by observing equipment in operation; listening for problems as well as using precision measuring and testing instruments.
Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop tooling and equipment; this includes the use of calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
Makes necessary adjustments to bakery equipment during production; ensures high production and product quality levels. Assists shift production supervisors in the event of equipment malfunctions, electrical or mechanical.
Performs daily and shift work assignments in a timely and efficient manner to minimize breakdowns or disruptions; documents activities through daily shift reports. Communicates potential problems and safety issues to immediate supervisor.
Controls downtime by communicating with production workers regarding machine performance and necessary repairs
Maintains a safe and clean work environment; ensures parts and tools are in good operating order and properly stored and performs general housekeeping of all maintenance areas.
Ensure proper procedures for Lock Out/Tag out are followed.
Follows all rules and regulations to ensure personal safety, food safety, quality and compliance.
Qualifications: Must be able to lift up to 75lbs, pushing, pulling and moving objects weighing up to 100lbs plus using carts or dollies. Repetitive motion bending, reaching, stooping, squatting and sitting. Able to stoop, bend and crouch on a regular basis to check equipment or supplies in low-lying areas. Must be able to climb stairs and/or ladders. Employee will have to step up into a scissor lift and perform duties on a scissor lift and ladder at times. Must be able to work in an area that contains dust, fumes, chemicals, heat, cold, noise levels higher than normal and heights.
