Azure Data Engineer in Product Development - MWH Global, Inc
Broomfield, CO
About the Job
At Stantec in the Netherlands, we work at the intersection of data engineering and environmental management. One of our key missions is to ensure our users are well-informed, safe, and compliant during excavation activities.
With the Soil Risk Map, we provide quick, affordable, and pragmatic advice on various themes, completely relieving our clients of their concerns. At Stantec, we take a leading role in both policy development and product creation for various applications and project phases where underground obstacles form the basis. Through intensive collaboration with clients and by providing technical and substantive expertise, we contribute to better protection, compliance, and efficiency in underground projects.
All this is done from a sustainability perspective to improve the quality of our living environment, accelerate the energy transition, and reduce societal costs.
Our successful information products and supporting software have enabled our clients and colleagues for over ten years to identify the location and impact of potential underground risks and obstacles, such as soil contamination, groundwater, explosive remnants of war, ecological and archaeological values. And it doesn't stop there, as several new themes are on the agenda for development in 2025 to enrich existing datasets.
The team you will join consists of 11 colleagues and combines expertise in (geo-)data engineering, software development, automated testing, and environmental management. Our way of working is scrum infused with the agile mindset. As a team, we set clear goals and results, giving the development team the freedom to decide how best to achieve them.
We focus exclusively on developing and delivering long-term solutions that solve problems for an entire industry or market. Currently, we are focusing on accelerating the energy transition, automated ETL processes, and smarter data analyses using the latest techniques. We see significant potential for further growth and meaningful improvements in our product offerings.
Your Role
As an Azure Data Engineer, you are the driving force behind designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and innovative data services. We are at an exciting crossroad: the implementation of a new, cloud-native ETL process within Azure. This process is not only technically advanced – with tools such as Azure Data Factory and Databricks – but also marks a fundamental shift in our approach. Our goal is to enable self-service data access and management, allowing the business to make better and faster decisions.
Your mission? To take the technical lead in this transformation. You will design and build CI/CD-based ETL pipelines within the solid structure of our Azure Landing Zones, creating secure, scalable, and future-proof data solutions. At the same time, you will work closely with the business to translate their needs into data solutions that they can manage and use independently. This requires a combination of technical expertise and the ability to guide teams in this new way of working.
With your passion for Azure technologies and automation, you are a pioneer in creating pipelines that not only integrate and transform data but also open the door to innovation and autonomy for our users. You are the one who makes a difference – by delivering robust technical solutions and fostering a culture of collaboration and empowerment. You will have the freedom to experiment and work with the latest technologies in your field. There is plenty of room for your own ideas!
What are your main responsibilities?
- Designing, developing, and maintaining data services for processing large amounts of raw and (un)structured (spatial) data via ETL pipelines.
- Structuring, scaling, and further automating existing ETL processes.
- Setting up new ETL processes within our MS Azure cloud platform.
- Performing quality checks through pair programming/code reviews.
- Contributing to the development of the field within the development team, for example by providing substantive guidance to your colleagues and mapping out risks or opportunities of proposed solutions.
And of course, also important: the employment conditions. Based on a 40-hour workweek, you will receive:
- A good salary, plus a year-end bonus.
- The possibility to flexibly allocate part of your secondary employment conditions with your personal choice budget.
- 28 vacation days, with the possibility to buy or sell.
- A working from home arrangement: we provide a good workplace at home and you'll receive a monthly net internet allowance of €36.10.
- Flexible working: at one of our offices in Arnhem, Delft, Oosterhout, Eindhoven, Sittard or at home. This international team meets weekly (mandatory) at our office in Delft, periodically alternating with the offices in Arnhem and Oosterhout.
- A fun job of 32, 36 or 40 hours per week.
