AWS Systems Engineer

We are seeking a seasoned AWS Systems Engineer to join our team and support our cloud infrastructure and server environments. This position will focus on AWS cloud technologies, with 90-95% of the work centered on AWS systems and a smaller component involving Windows and Linux server environments. This role is critical to ensuring seamless operations and proactive system monitoring, with a strong focus on security, optimization, and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
- AWS Optimization: Design and optimize AWS infrastructure for maximum uptime and cost-efficiency.
- System Maintenance: Maintain cloud components and support server environments, ensuring robust monitoring and logging.
- Security: Implement AWS security best practices to protect environments.
- Collaboration: Work with IT and development teams to leverage AWS best practices.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve issues, ensuring root causes are addressed effectively.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of system changes and updates.
- Training: Educate teams on cloud-based initiatives and new technologies.
Core Duties:
- Design, build, and configure AWS services (EC2, ECS, IAM, Lambda, FSx, RDS, Workspaces, AWS EDR, AWS Backup, Route 53, S3, Terraform).
- Provide Level III technical support and resolve advanced user issues.
- Monitor system logs and ensure all servers meet performance benchmarks.
- Administer network backup/recovery systems and update software and hardware inventories.
- Maintain DNS, DHCP, SMTP, and active directory applications.
- Perform installation, maintenance, and upgrades for servers, backups, and SANs.
- Collaborate on IT projects to develop solutions consistent with IT strategy.
- Evaluate and propose new technologies to enhance IT services.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in AWS infrastructure and certifications (AWS Solutions Architect preferred).
- Proficiency with AWS services (EC2, ECS, IAM, Lambda, S3, RDS, Route 53, Terraform).
- Strong understanding of Windows and Linux server environments.
- Familiarity with SNMP gateways, DHCP, DNS, and user setups.
- Experience with server troubleshooting and maintaining high-performance systems.
Additional Skills:
- Proven ability to work independently on complex projects.
- Familiarity with compliance principles outlined in corporate policies.
- Certifications in event and storage management are a plus.
Work Environment:
Preferred onsite presence for at least the first 2-3 months, with flexibility to transition to a hybrid schedule (minimum of 3 days onsite per week).
