Position: AWS Platform Observability Engineer
Location : Boston, MA / Remote in USA
Description:
HCLTech AWS Delivery Unit seeking an experienced AWS Observability Stack Developer who will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining an observability platform using Terraform. The ideal candidate will implement monitoring and logging solutions using Open Telemetry, AWS Distro for OpenTelemetry (ADOT), Centralize Cloudwatch Dashboard, AWS X-Ray for tracing and debugging microservices.
Total Experience - A minimum of 10 to 12 years of proven experience in Public Cloud, infrastructure delivery, and DevOps roles within a software or services organization.
Relevant Experience - A minimum of 5 – 7 years of relevant experience in Observability of AWS such as CloudWatch, OpenTelemetry, AWS Config, tracing and debugging on various IAAS services etc with a software and/or services company is required.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and manage infrastructure using Terraform, ensuring best practices in code quality and version control.
Develop and maintain observability solutions using ADOT and OpenTelemetry for collecting and analyzing logs, metrics, and traces.
Integrate monitoring and observability into AWS services such as ECS, EKS, EC2, and Lambda.
Configure and manage AWS CloudWatch for monitoring and alerting, ensuring system reliability and performance.
Configure and manage AWS X-Ray for trace analysis.
Collaborate with development and operations teams to optimize application performance and ensure system reliability.
Conduct regular reviews of existing infrastructure to identify opportunities for optimization and improvement.
Create and maintain documentation for infrastructure and observability solutions.
Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and best practices in cloud technologies and observability.
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in cloud engineering, specifically with AWS.
Proficient in Terraform and Infrastructure as Code principles.
Strong experience with AWS services, including but not limited to ECS, EKS, EC2, and Lambda.
Hands-on experience with AWS Distro for OpenTelemetry (ADOT) and OpenTelemetry for observability.
Familiarity with AWS CloudWatch for monitoring and alerting.
Experience with AWS X-Ray for tracing and debugging microservices.
Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, etc.) for automation tasks.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Relevant AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer).
Experience with CI/CD tools and practices.
Knowledge of container orchestration and microservices architecture

Compensation and Benefits
A candidate’s pay within the range will depend on their skills, experience, education, and other factors permitted by law. This role may also be eligible for performance-based bonuses subject to company policies.
