Role Overview: Through effective leadership and operational expertise, the AVP of Retail Operations ensures seamless support services, compliance adherence, and efficient back-office operations to deliver an exceptional member experience. This role oversees the Deposit Operations and Card Services functions, managing a dedicated team to support the credit union's mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Sr. VP of Consumer & Mortgage Lending by ensuring member needs are met in compliance with regulations.
- Lead all aspects of Retail Operations, serving as the operational backbone for member services.
- Supervise Retail Operations Representatives, the Payment Administrator, and department managers.
- Build and maintain a high-performing team through coaching, performance management, and collaboration with People Operations.
- Conduct quarterly compliance audits in partnership with the Risk Management-Compliance department.
- Update and communicate procedural changes to align with compliance and operational standards.
- Address escalated member concerns with professionalism and a focus on solutions.
- Oversee daily back-office processes, ensuring timely and accurate transaction handling, account support, and card services.
- Manage vendor relationships, including invoice approvals and due diligence for Deposit Operations and Card Services.
- Collaborate across departments to solve operational challenges, improve processes, and enhance member satisfaction.
- Serve as a backup for staff duties within the Retail Operations department when needed.
- Contribute to the credit union's mission by completing assigned duties and maintaining a minimum "Satisfactory" rating on internal audits and examinations.
Essential Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will have high school diploma or equivalency certification. An Associates Degree in Business is preferred. A minimum of 10+ years of experience in back-office account operations is required, with expertise in ACH/Wire transfers, IRAs, payroll processing, and plastic card operations. Additionally, 5+ years of administrative experience in a leadership capacity is essential.
- Comprehensive knowledge of regulatory environments for financial institutions, including SEC, NCUA, NACHA, IRS, and other compliance requirements.
- Strong understanding of credit union products, services, policies, and regulations.
- Advanced expertise in accounting systems, financial analysis tools, and electronic delivery systems.
- Proficiency in spreadsheet software for analyzing and compiling complex financial and statistical data.
- Excellent independent problem-solving skills for resolving operational and procedural challenges.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple complex deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
- Capability to work independently with minimal supervision.
