Avionics Technican
Job Description:
- Inspect, service, test, repair, remove and replace aircraft electrical instruments and electronic equipment, including: power system components, instrument systems, indicating and warning systems, aircraft automatic flight control systems, including auto-pilots, automatic flight stabilization, aircraft compasses and altitude reference systems, auxiliary power plants, airborne communication, navigation displays, etc.
- Read and interpret aircraft maintenance manuals and specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
- Perform operational checks after maintenance is performed to ensure proper operation.
- Adjust, align, and calibrate aircraft systems, using hand tools, gauges, and test equipment.
- Test engine and system operations, using testing equipment.
- Perform maintenance IAW FAA approved technical data.
- Research FAA technical data to locate applicable data relevant to assigned tasks.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Primary Requirements/Preferences:
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant license required.
- Bench experience is needed (from electronic stores, etc. as they understand electronics at the bench level.)
- Military Avionics Tech school ( back Shop Emphasis)
- Electronic engineering technology
- Electronics troubleshooting
- FCC or other electronics focused licenses
- 2 year electronics degree Experience may include, but is not limited to:
- 2 year’s experience troubleshooting electronics down to component level on circuit cards. (eg. Resisters, capacitors, diodes, transistors, IC Chips,)
- Working with electronic schematics.
- Various meters and back shop measuring devices.
- Oscilloscopes
- Power supplies
- Frequency generators and frequency counters
- Automated test equipment (ATE)
- Consumer electronics experience is valued. (TV’s, radios, and other circuit devices that contain electronic circuit cards)
- Testing with specialized equipment.
- High reliability solder under a microscope.
Requirements:
- A minimum of three years documented aircraft avionics systems experience or an associate degree in avionics from an approved technical school.
- Must have 3-5 years experience within commercial aviation.
- Prefer previous experience and qualifications associated with EWIS/SFAR88.
- Must be able to read and write at a level to enable him/her to comprehend and apply information contained in technical manuals, blueprints and wiring diagrams.
- Must be able to document maintenance performed on required forms.
- Knowledge of design techniques, principles, tools and instruments involved in the production and use of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
- Familiar with B737, B747, B757, B767, B777, MD88/90, DC-9 and A319/320 aircraft types and associated engines.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Successful complete a fingerprint-based Criminal History Records check prior to beginning work.
- Must meet the physical requirements which qualify a person to perform essential job functions including the ability to lift at least 70 pounds.
- Must be willing to work rotating or fixed shifts.
- A valid clear driver's license.
As required by the FAA for all persons in safety-sensitive positions, candidates selected for this position are subject to a drug test.
