About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Avionics Mechanical Engineer to support the design, analysis, and validation of avionics enclosures for a cutting-edge space exploration program. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with electrical engineers to deliver robust solutions for electronics packaging, thermal management, and vibration isolation in dynamic environments. You will work on diverse aspects of mechanical design and testing to ensure the success of avionics systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design enclosures and packaging for PCBs and avionics electronics, including heatsinks, vibration isolation, and environmental protection.
- Perform hand calculations and preliminary sizing for static and dynamic loads, as well as thermal environments.
- Utilize NX and Teamcenter for 3D modeling and 2D drafting to create detailed designs with considerations for production and testing.
- Collaborate with electrical engineers to define requirements, improve PCB thermal performance, and optimize packaging trades.
- Validate designs for flight through prototyping, analysis (using FEMAP), and rigorous test campaigns.
- Contribute to the full lifecycle of mechanical product development, from concept to qualification and production.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a mechanical design engineering role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency with NX/Teamcenter CAD packages.
- Experience with structural and thermal analysis, including finite element methods.
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership of complex technical projects.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience designing electronic assemblies, batteries, or vibration isolation systems.
- Applied knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Previous experience in the aerospace industry, particularly with launch vehicles or spacecraft.
