Aviation MEP Engineer - TCM

About the Job
The ideal candidate MEP will possess a strong background in Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems design and construction, with specific expertise in aviation facilities. This role will involve collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the efficient and effective operation of MEP systems within airport environments.
Responsibilities:
- Designing MEP systems for airport terminals, hangars, control towers, fueling stations, and other aviation-related facilities.
- Conducting feasibility studies, energy audits, and lifecycle cost analyses to optimize MEP system designs.
- Coordinating with architects, structural engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate MEP systems seamlessly into overall project plans.
- Managing MEP design consultants and contractors to ensure compliance with project specifications, schedules, and budgets.
- Reviewing and approving MEP drawings, specifications, and construction documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Performing technical evaluations of MEP equipment and systems to ensure they meet performance, safety, and sustainability goals.
- Providing expertise in airport-specific MEP systems such as airfield lighting, fueling systems, baggage handling, and HVAC systems.
- Conducting site inspections and overseeing MEP installations to ensure adherence to design intent and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborating with airport authorities, regulatory agencies, and third-party consultants to obtain necessary approvals and permits.
- Keeping abreast of industry trends, best practices, and advancements in MEP technology relevant to aviation projects.
- Demonstrated experience in the design and construction of airfield electrical systems for airport lighting is essential.
- Periodic Reporting and project updates/findings and presentation to the senior staffs
- Familiarity with airport safety and security standards, FAA grants, and related regulatory requirements is highly desirable
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related field (master's degree preferred).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, with eligibility to obtain licensure in TX
- 5-7 years of experience in MEP engineering, with a focus on aviation or airport projects.
- Thorough understanding of applicable codes and standards (e.g., NFPA, ASHRAE, IBC) as they relate to MEP systems in airport environments.
- Proficiency in MEP design software (e.g., AutoCAD MEP, Revit MEP) and familiarity with BIM workflows.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
- Experience in sustainable design practices and LEED certification is advantageous.
