Responsibilities:
What you'll be challenged to do:
TranSystems’ Ebensburg, Harrisburg, Pittsburgh or Philadelphia Pennsylvania offices have an immediate opening for an Airport/Civil Engineer. This position includes airport/civil design, rehabilitation, and inspection along with the preparation of design calculations, construction documents, specifications, and estimates. In addition, duties may include construction inspection services. Day to day assignments and technical guidance will be provided by current staff Project Managers. Assignments will involve travel within the continental United States and could, at times, require travel outside of the United States.
General Duties & Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Analyzing information and data to perform inspection/design tasks.
- May be asked to participate in non-design engineering activities such as construction inspection and materials testing, surveying, CADD production, and field data collection.
- Receives instructions from Project Manager or Senior Project Engineers as to the general results expected.
- Responsible for accuracy of engineering design, reports, and plans, quality presentation, thoroughness and follow-through, and efficient conformance to budgets, schedules, and company standards.
- Research design options and document findings for Senior Project Engineer.
- Maintains project database by writing computer programs; entering and backing up data.
- Researches code requirements.
- Keeps Senior Project Manager informed of workload and any changes in project schedule or scope or additional services.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Assist or participate in preparation of business proposals.
- Be willing to travel within the continental United States with the occasional need to travel outside of the US.
- Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.
Qualifications:
What you bring to our firm:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with an emphasis in highways, general civil or construction management from an ABET-accredited university or college.
- Individuals should have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in reading plans and shop drawings and evaluating contractor compliance with construction plans and specifications.
- Team oriented engineer with strong communication skills.
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and other AutoCAD-related software.
- Able and willing to travel within the continental United States with potential for travel outside of the US
- Physically capable of performing field work including communicating on Airports and working in adverse weather conditions, etc.
- Civil Engineer-in-Training/Fundamentals of Engineering Certification.
- Valid Driver’s License.
What we’d prefer for you to bring to our firm:
- The preferred candidate will have a highway or general civil engineering background, knowledge of, AutoCAD, and experience with Airport, highway or civil engineering design drawings, specifications and cost estimates.
- No relocation assistance - Local candidates preferred.
- PennDOT Highway or General Civil consulting and/or construction services experience and/or experience with Aviation or highway engineering/inspection in Pennsylvania is a plus.
- urrent Professional Civil Engineer or have the capability to obtain a Pennsylvania Civil Professional Engineer’s License within 24 months is strongly encouraged.
- Construction Administration Duties (Shop Drawings, RFI's, Payment Requests, Etc.).
- Construction Inspection Experience Preferred and experience with NEWFORMA a plus.
