Job Description: Automotive Service Technician (Experienced)
Overview:
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Automotive Service Technician to join our dedicated service team. In this role, you will perform a wide range of automotive maintenance and repair tasks with a focus on quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. As a vital part of our dealership, you will diagnose, repair, and maintain vehicles, ensuring they meet manufacturer standards and provide customers with a safe, reliable driving experience.

Key Responsibilities:
Vehicle Diagnostics and Repairs:
- Accurately diagnose mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues using diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Perform repairs and maintenance tasks, including engine diagnostics, brake systems, suspensions, transmissions, air conditioning systems, and more.
- Ensure all repairs meet or exceed manufacturer standards and comply with dealership policies.
Routine Maintenance:
- Conduct scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, and fluid checks.
- Inspect and test vehicles to identify potential problems and recommend preventive maintenance.
Customer Communication:
- Collaborate with Service Advisors to explain necessary repairs and maintenance to customers in a clear and professional manner.
- Provide accurate estimates of repair times and costs when requested.
Record Keeping:
- Document all services performed, parts used, and labor hours in the dealership’s repair order system.
- Maintain detailed and organized repair records for future reference.
Tool and Equipment Maintenance:
- Operate and maintain diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools in good working order.
- Stay updated on new tools, techniques, and manufacturer procedures through training and certifications.
Compliance and Safety:
- Adhere to dealership, manufacturer, and industry safety protocols and guidelines.
- Dispose of hazardous materials responsibly and in compliance with environmental regulations.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 2-5 years of hands-on experience as an automotive service technician, preferably in a dealership setting.
- Certifications: ASE certifications or equivalent manufacturer-specific training preferred (or willingness to obtain).
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of automotive systems, diagnostic procedures, and repair techniques.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electronic issues efficiently.
- Attention to Detail: Commitment to performing accurate and thorough work.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with Service Advisors and team members.
- Physical Ability: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and work in various physical positions in a shop environment.
- Licensing: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working with a wide range of vehicle makes and models.
- Familiarity with dealership management and repair order software systems.
- Manufacturer-specific training or certifications (e.g., Toyota, GM, Ford, etc.).
Work Environment:
This role requires working in a busy automotive service department. The environment may involve exposure to loud noises, vibrations, and potential hazards such as chemicals or heavy equipment. Technicians must wear appropriate safety gear and follow all safety protocols.
