About the Job
This is a senior accounting role which requires expertise in standard accounting practices as well as knowledge of automotive dealership accounting. Only those who are fully designated as a Chartered Accountant will be considered for this role.
The Financial Controller is responsible all accounting functions and staff. They will oversee payables, receivables, deal postings, bank reconciliation, schedule and GL account auditing and government remittances. They are responsible for preparation of timely and accurate monthly and year end financial statements.
Decisions impacting the finances of the company, including cash management and financial statement entries, will be discussed and guidance offered to the CFO and Dealer Principal. Work should demonstrate accuracy and a strong understanding of generally accepted accounting practices.

- Daily bank reconciliation and cash control reporting
- Monitor cash and credit card clearing accounts
- Review GL accounts and key schedules to ensure they are clean and up to date
- Payroll utilizing third party system
- All government remittances and filings (state, payroll and income taxes, HST)
- Oversee posted entries of AR/AP clerks
- Review/close retail and wholesale deals, ensure all transactions balance
- Monthly reconciliations of accounts for financial statement closing: GL adjusting entries, bank, floor plan
