Position Summary
The Cashier is responsible for accurately processing customer transactions, managing cash flow, and providing excellent customer service to enhance the overall experience at Thompsons Auto Group. This role requires strong attention to detail, a professional demeanor, and a commitment to Thompsons' customer-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities Cashiering Duties
Process Transactions: Receive payments in the form of cash, checks, debit cards, or credit cards for vehicle sales, service transactions, and other purchases.
Provide Change and Receipts: Issue change and provide receipts to customers promptly and accurately.
Scan and Key Items: Efficiently scan or enter items into the system to ensure accurate transaction processing. Balance Cash Drawer: Maintain balanced cash drawers, verifying all transactions at the start and end of each shift to avoid discrepancies.
Process Debit and Credit Cards: Accurately handle debit and credit card transactions, following proper security protocols.
Customer Service
Assist Customers: Provide friendly, professional service to customers, answering questions and resolving any transaction issues with patience and courtesy.
Product Knowledge: Maintain familiarity with the dealership’s products, features, accessories, and services to answer customer inquiries and direct them appropriately.
Administrative and Additional Duties
Documentation: Ensure accurate transaction documentation for auditing purposes and file necessary paperwork daily.
Team Support: Work collaboratively with the dealership team to provide backup support in peak hours, including answering phones, light receptionist duties, and assisting other departments as needed.
Other Duties as Assigned: Perform other related duties as assigned to contribute to the efficient operations of Thompsons Auto Group.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required; an Associate degree is preferred.
Six months or more related experience in cashiering, retail, or customer service.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Ability to maintain a professional personal appearance and attitude.
Attention to detail and ability to meet company standards for accuracy and productivity.
Ability to work effectively within a team and with a diverse group of people.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit, stand, and walk for prolonged periods.
Ability to bend, twist, or stoop occasionally and lift up to 25 lbs infrequently.
Repetitive hand and finger movements for prolonged periods.
Ability to reach and lift overhead occasionally.
