Job Description:
- Basic mechanic tool is required. Wiring and instrumentation tools will also be needed for this position.
- This is a role that requires 1 year of automotive mechanic experience.
- Will be getting trained to prep vehicles for testing.
- Hands on training is PROVIDED, if they have the mechanical knowledge.
- If they have car audio experience that is very relatable knowledge.
Job Summary:
- The Technician I will install test equipment in development vehicles such as thermocouples, transducers, sensors, fiberoptics, accelerometers.
- The role will build, modify, adjust and calibrate installed devices.
- This role will build and install low voltage wire harnesses to drawings and schematics Technician I will be mentored and supported by team members on project work and customer interactions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Build and install low voltage automotive and instrumentation wiring harnesses, auxiliary battery and electrical systems.
- Install, adjust and calibrate sensors, shunts, fiber optics, accelerometers and data acquisition systems.
- Collaborate with Customers, Fabricators, and Mechanics to identify required locations for sensor installation according to Instrumentation Requirement List (IRL).
- Assist in performing complete functional inspection and prove-out of instrumentation according to Instrumentation Quality Assurance (IQA).
- Diagnose faulty low voltage automotive and instrumentation wiring systems and repair.
- Work with electronic functional and measurement tools, such as power supplies, function generators, and multimeter.
- Maintain records by entering notes into service repair requests.
- Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, calling for repairs.
- Participate in daily shop organization and clean-up.
Education and Experience (required):
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1 year of mechanic experience, personal or professional.
Education and Experience (preferred):
- Certificate in Automotive Technology or related.
- National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification(s).
- State Mechanic Certification(s).
- Valid driver's license.
- Experience performing soldering, crimping, tube bending, component layout and packaging on vehicles or subsystems.

- Able to follow procedures or work instructions provided for assigned projects, such as work requests, shop procedures and shop manuals, publications, or schematic diagrams.
- Good organizational skills and works well independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and time management skills.
- Able to work overtime and weekends.
- Good attention to detail.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities (preferred):
- Knowledge of proper installation of thermocouples and pressure transducers.
