NOVA is growing and the Automation Service Technician, Robot Programmer role is instrumental in ensuring NOVA Automation's customers are successfully operating NOVA equipment in their production environments. The Service team, based in Denver, CO is responsible for programming, commissioning, upgrading, servicing, and troubleshooting our deployed robotic automation and packaging systems both in-person and remotely. NOVA's Service team is committed to delivering measurable value to our customers and to continually expand that value through improvements to our solutions and processes. As an Automation Service Technician, Robot Programmer at NOVA, you will be a designated customer advocate who will assist in providing tailored remote support. It is well suited to an individual with strong technical skills who enjoys solving problems as much as working directly with people.
The Automation Service Technician, Robot Programmer will spend their time in-house at our Denver facility providing remote customer support and supporting our in-house Testing & Controls team programming and performing factory acceptance testing on new equipment. A willingness to learn and develop new ideas, problem solve, and think quickly is key to success in this role.
Roles and Responsibilities - What you'll be doing
- Providing remote customer support: fielding support phone calls/emails/messages and being on-call during designated hours.
- Providing on-site customer support (up to 50% travel) in the event of a critical situation to expedite resolution as required.
- Managing support cases to ensure issues are recorded, tracked, and resolved with timely follow-ups with thorough documentation of all the troubleshooting steps in the ticketing system.
- Being a subject matter expert on NOVA and integrated equipment.
- Supporting NOVA's in-house Testing & Controls team.
- Supporting NOVA's Field Service Engineers and Technicians.

Qualifications and Requirements - What you bring to the table as a candidate

- Highly detail oriented throughout work duties including administrative & documentation responsibilities.
- Extensive mechanical aptitude and deep understanding of machine theory
Programming and Electrical Aptitude:
- 5 years' experience of Electrical Knowledge, Computer Programming, Controls and Systems Engineering, and Robotics experience.
- Deep understanding of components, connected components, drives, ethernet/ethernet ip, industrial iot, machine safety, motion control, motor control, vibration, servo drives, security risks & solutions, safety, process safety, process, process networks, and networks.
- Able to modify/build Ladder Logic programs for CompactLogix, RSLogix, and Siemens controls.
- Robotic programming and troubleshooting of Kawasaki & Yaskawa Robots
- Kuka & Fanuc robot programming experience a plus
- Variable Frequency Drives - Allen Bradley Powerflex, Eaton, SEW Eurodrive.
- Servos – Allen Bradley: Kenetics 6000, SERCOS Servo Drive Interface, Yaskawa: SGDV, SGDH
- HMI Programing and Operations: Proface, Allen Bradley: FactoryTalk View Studio, RS View, PanelBuilder, Siemens: ProTool
- Ability to troubleshoot new and existing PLC control systems doing I/O checks and ladder logic edits.
- Includes knowledge of Rockwell Automation's - RS500/5000 or Siemens S7
- Alley Bradley PLC: ControlLogix\CompactLogix, PlantPAx, PLC 5, MicroLogix, SLC 500, RS Logix, Studio 5000, Studio Designer, FactoryTalk SE/ME
- Siemens PLC: TIA Portal v12, TIA Portal v13, TIA Portal v14, Step 7, S7-1500, S7-1200, S7-300, S7-400, WinCC Flex
- Experience performing operator and maintenance training.
