Automation Manufacturing Engineer - System Soft Technologies

Job Summary

The Automation Manufacturing Engineer will use their expertise to resolve complex manufacturing issues in an aerospace production environment.

Responsibilities

• Automation and Control Systems: Evaluate, select, and integrate robotic systems, control systems, and other automation technologies to automate manufacturing processes.
• PLC Programming and HMI Development: Develop and program PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) systems to control and monitor manufacturing processes.
• Integrate automation systems with existing manufacturing infrastructure, such as ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) or MES (Manufacturing Execution System) systems.
• Develop and execute test plans, perform system integration tests, and validate automation solutions against defined specifications.
• Troubleshoot and debug automation systems to ensure proper functionality and performance.
• Training and Documentation: Develop training materials and conduct training sessions for operators and maintenance personnel on the proper use, operation, and maintenance of automation systems.
• Create and maintain documentation, including user manuals, standard operating procedures (SOPs), Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM?s) and troubleshooting guides for automation systems.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement appropriate safety measures to mitigate risks associated with automated systems.
• Design and create human-machine interfaces (HMIs) for operators to interact with and monitor automated systems.
• Ensure seamless integration between PLCs, HMIs, and other automation components.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering required, Master's Degree in Engineering a plus.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in automation technologies including robotics, software programming, tooling and test equipment design.
• Demonstrated expertise with complex manufacturing engineering solutions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex automation issues.
• Proficient with applying Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or other continuous improvement.
• Strong knowledge of automation technologies, including robotics, PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems.
• Experience in project management, including planning, execution, and coordination of automation projects
• Proficiency in VisualBasic 6.0 is required.
• Proficiency in programming languages used in automation, such as ladder logic, structured text, function block diagram, Lab View, C++, Python, Java are preferred.
