As an Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for conducting research & development focused on designing and advancing equipment automation and novel processes. Responsibilities
- Conduct research and data analysis, documenting and tracking projects, and producing relevant reports.
- Utilize computer-assisted engineering and design software, including CAD, for engineering tasks and designs.
- Collaborate with staff and plant personnel to resolve issues, gather information, and aid in design development.
- Assist in evaluating the feasibility of designing new plant equipment or modifying existing facilities, considering various technical and economic factors.
- Provide technical problem-solving support to Divisions, employing designed experimentation and engineering principles to resolve issues.
- Develop wiring diagrams, layout drawings, and engineering specifications for equipment modifications or expansions.
- Fabricate and test experimental motor control devices, control panels, transformers, and other electrical components.
- Maintain positive relationships with equipment and electrical vendors, exploring new potential sources and negotiating terms.
- Initiate purchase requisitions, expedite orders for timely delivery, and maintain records for billing and invoicing.
- Adhere to safety regulations and ensure a clean and organized work area.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred
- 3+ years of experience
- Proficiency in CAD software
- Use and understand FANUC and EPSON control systems
- Proficiency in PLC and HMI programming using software such as Mitsubishi, Allen Bradley, Studio 5000 Logix, RSLogix 500, EZWARE, Siemens, etc.
- Thorough understanding of ladder logic concepts
- Experience with KEYENCE Vision systems is a strong plus
- Familiarity with computer networking techniques and concepts
- Comprehensive grasp of mechanical engineering principles
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
