Automation Controls Engineer

One of my best clients, a leading CNC cutting tool manufacturer, is seeking a Automation Controls Engineer. A bit about the company:

For over 40 years, they have been a leading producer of industrial equipment and automation worldwide. They are recession-durable (they didn't lay off anyone during COVID-19). 

The role involves cutting-edge machine tending automation solutions including robotics, gantry, pallet pool, and various flexible manufacturing systems.

About 25% travel, but the role is based out of Chicago.

• Machine tending automation system cell controller design
• Machine tool, robot, washer, gage/CMM, marker, etc. automation equipment interfacing
• Electrical wiring, troubleshooting and various automation peripherals setup
• Program PLC/HMI (Allen-Bradley preferred), robot (Fanuc) and vision (iRvision or Cognex)
• Perform automation cell runoff at factory and customer site
• Prepare detailed design specification and documentation

They hope to find:

• Bachelor or equivalent degree in Electrial Engineering
• Familiar with manufacturing automation/industrial robotic systems
• Strong electrical design, wiring and troubleshooting capabilities
• Proficient in PLC/HMI/Robot/Vision programming 
• Proficient in mechanical assembly and electrical troubleshooting 
• Familiar with major industrial protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Profinet, etc.) 
• Familiar with safety circuit and safety relay/controller configuration
• Strong communication skills including read & write technical documents
