Architectural Fiberglass, Inc. (AFI) is one of the premier fiberglass manufacturers leading the industry for over 20 years in design and manufacture of custom fiberglass in our state of the art manufacturing facility in Cleveland, OH. We custom design and manufacture interior and exterior decorative fiberglass reinforced polymer (FTP) ornamentation for the restoration, reproduction and new construction industries.
AFI is looking to hire Auto Body Repair Technician Employee to help our business continue to grow. This candidate must be organized, self-motivated, and able to communicate with professionalism.
This is a unique position that requires NO EXPERIENCE. WE WILL TRAIN ALL ASPECTS OF THIS JOB. All that is needed to become an AFI employee is the willingness to learn and the desire to put forth your best efforts.
This work involves repairing laminated materials. We will train specifics relating to this job.
Some responsibilities may include working with fiberglass molds, sealing, waxing, buffing and possibly some sanding.
Clean repair panels and adjacent panels.
Use shop recommended grit sandpaper to prep on new or OEM parts; also use grit sandpaper to blend panels and sue a gray scotch-brite when necessary
Mask and prime areas to be painted and apply guide coat
Block sand all primer areas; use shop recommended grit for D/A sanding
Prep without having exposed bare metal, bondo or burn through on painted surfaces
Blow off and wipe down panels using cleaner
Mask and tape for paint
Notify management of any additional repairs needed or any difficulties or problems that may prevent a quality job from being performed
Cooperate and assist other personnel in the repair and prepping of product.
Maintain shop tools and equipment in a proper state of repair; also notify management when equipment needs repair, maintenance or replacement
Maintain and wear all safety required PPE, including respirator, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer
Operate all tools and equipment in a safe manner
Comply with all laws and regulations pertaining to paint, thinners, and other hazardous materials; report any deviations to management
Report any safety issues to management immediately
Must be able to follow detailed instructions and work effectively in a team environment.
This employee will also participate in quality inspection of the product.
Employee participated in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools and events
Employee is accountable for all AFI owned tools and manuals
Employee will perform any duties as directed by Manager/Supervisor
Employees will be responsible for cleaning his/her area after use and general housekeeping plus any other duties that the Supervisor may request.
