About the Job
HumanHire is seeking an experienced Authorization Specialist to join our client's team in Middle Island. The Insurance Authorization Specialist will be responsible for obtaining and verifying insurance authorizations for medical procedures and services.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical coding, office procedures, and managed care.

- Schedule: M-F 8:30am – 5pm (Fully on site)

Responsibilities:
- Prioritize incoming authorization requests via phone or email according to the urgency
- Obtain authorization via the payer website or by phone and follow up regularly on pending cases for Infusion and injectable drugs under the medical benefit.
- Maintain individual payer files to include up-to-date requirements needed to successfully obtain authorizations
- Initiate appeals for denied authorizations
- Confirm the accuracy of CPT and ICD-10 diagnoses in the procedure order
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in insurance authorization procedures.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Background in pharmacy or authorization processes preferred.
- Familiarity with healthcare operations, preferably in a clinical or business office setting.
- Proficiency in medical terminology, ICD-10 and CPT coding.
