Position Summary
THE FOCUS IS YOU
We are seeking an Audit Senior Manager to join our growing Great Lakes Region team. This role provides the opportunity to work with dynamic clients across real estate and other industries, while contributing to the development of our internal teams and driving the firm’s continued growth.
As an Audit Senior Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and reviewing the necessary procedures involved in planning and executing attestation engagements for clients in accordance with the applicable accounting standards. The Audit Senior Manager serves to manage client engagements, maintain client relationships, and act as a liaison between overseeing/mentoring internal staff and working closely with internal leaders, to ensure high-quality work is conducted and delivered to our clients.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Regular duties include (but are not limited to):
- Lead and manage audits, reviews, and compilations across various industries while ensuring compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
- Oversee and evaluate financial statements and internal controls
- Coordinate engagement planning, fieldwork, and wrap-up activities to meet client deadlines and budgets
- Develop tailored strategies to address client challenges and deliver practical solutions
- Build and maintain client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and providing insights into compliance and financial performance
- Mentor and guide internal staff, promoting technical growth and professional development
- Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory updates, and emerging standards in generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), generally accepted auditing standards (GAAS), generally accepted government audit Standards (GAGAS) and Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board (FASAB)
- Communicate effectively with clients, staff, and senior leadership, addressing issues and delivering updates
Supervisory responsibilities
- Will supervise subordinate team members
Work environment
- Work is conducted in a professional office environment with minimal distractions
Physical demands
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and performing work in front of a computer screen for long periods of time
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Required education and experience
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
- 8+ years in public accounting or a related field
- Experience in working with clients across various industries including real estate industry-specific knowledge (Partnerships, Affordable Housing, HUD, MSHDA, and USDA-RD) is preferred
- Active CPA license is required
- Must maintain required CPE credits annually
