About the Role
A prestigious national CPA firm is seeking an Audit Principal with expertise in Yellow Book audits, Uniform Guidance, and nonprofit organizations. This leadership role involves overseeing complex audit engagements, fostering client relationships, mentoring audit teams, and contributing to the firm’s growth in the nonprofit and governmental sectors.
Key Responsibilities
Engagement Leadership:
- Manage and oversee complex audit engagements for nonprofit organizations and governmental entities.
- Ensure audits comply with GAAP, GAS (Government Auditing Standards), and Uniform Guidance.
- Provide technical resolutions for complex accounting and auditing issues.
Client Relationship Management:
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients, addressing their financial and compliance challenges.
- Build long-lasting relationships by delivering exceptional service and actionable insights.
Team Leadership:
- Supervise and mentor audit teams to foster professional development.
- Review and approve work to ensure quality and adherence to standards.
Technical Expertise:
- Stay updated on changes to auditing standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Provide technical training to staff and clients on accounting and compliance updates.
Practice Growth:
- Identify and pursue opportunities to expand the firm's nonprofit and Yellow Book audit practice.
- Represent the firm at professional and networking events to enhance its reputation.
Qualifications
- Certification: CPA required; advanced degree (e.g., MST or MPA) is a plus.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years in audit, with expertise in Yellow Book and nonprofit audits.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, GAS, and Uniform Guidance compliance.
- Proven ability to manage audit teams and mentor staff effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong client relationships.
- Demonstrated success in business development and practice growth.
- Proficiency in audit software and Microsoft Office applications.
