Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am to 5pm
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greet and promptly room patients in a warm, professional manner, inform clinical staff of patient arrival.
- Process EPIC registration work queues, in basket messages, and other correspondence on a daily basis.
- Schedule / Reschedule appointments per established department protocols and provider preferences.
- Process referrals daily, utilize referral matrix, and contact insurance companies for required authorizations.
- Update the referral to reflect the status of the authorization.
- Utilize assigned EPIC reports, investigate missing referral information and update patient record.
- Notify patients of scheduled appointments and denied referrals promptly
- Utilize in-basket messaging to notify referring provider of denied or delayed referrals promptly.
- Respond to patients' questions regarding referrals.
- Record requests: Update open referrals with scheduled appointment date, contact information, medical records to be sent to external providers.
After appropriate training, audiology assistants will perform the following:
- Package and mail ear mold orders, device repairs, and factory returns.
- Perform inventories of equipment and supplies.
- Enter clinic supply orders.
- Clean hearing aids and other amplification devices.
- Assist audiologists with setup of technical tasks.
- Prepare materials for ear impressions.
- Maintain and restock test and treatment rooms.
- Perform checks on hearing aids and other amplification devices.
- Perform troubleshooting and minor repairs to hearing aids, ear molds, and other amplification devices.
- Perform equipment maintenance and biological checks.
- Perform non-diagnostic otoscopy.
- Perform electroacoustic analysis of hearing aids and other amplification devices.
- Instruct patients in proper use and care of hearing aids and other amplification devices.
- Demonstrate listening devices.
- Instruct patients in proper ear hygiene.
- Assist audiologists in hearing testing of pediatric patients.
- Perform infection control duties within the clinic service areas.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Ability to understand and empathize with the population being served.
- Good manual dexterity.
- Excellent time management skills required.
- Computer and keyboarding skills required.
- Detail oriented and ability to multi-task.
- Must meet training requirements and have competency-based skills necessary for the performance of specific assigned tasks.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school degree or equivalent.
- Previous experience in ambulatory healthcare environment required.
- Previous experience in audiology or ENT department strongly preferred.
- Previous experience with hearing aids and assistive listening devices strongly preferred.
Pay Range:
$18.66 - $26.12

PTO and Personal Time accruals are pro-rated by FTE/hours worked. Non-benefits eligible employees will accrue Personal Time based on hours worked and State worked.
