Audiologist 0.4 FTE - IE2345 - Kent School District

This is  a 0.4 FTE position.  185 day (9 month) with pay spread over 12 months. 

ASSIGNMENT: Audiologist for students ages 3 through 21. Functions include clinically assessing mildly to profoundly hearing impaired students and assessing multiple handicapped and severely to profoundly handicapped students. Anticipated starting date is DATE

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Conduct audiological evaluations to determine whether children can benefit from amplification.
2. Make a specific recommendation if new hearing aid is needed.
3. Determine need for new ear molds.
4. Provide audiogram, which will include unaided and aided puretone scores, SRT, discrimination (earphone, Freefield with and without aid).
5. Conduct audiological tests to determine the type (conductive or sensorineural) and degree of hearing loss.
6. Make recommendations and plans for improved acoustics in future classrooms.
7. Provide in-service training for teachers and staff.
8. Conduct parent-teacher education meetings regarding hearing loss, amplification and auditory training.
9. Interpret educational, language and speech implications of hearing loss to teachers and parents.
10. Calibration of audiometers.
11. Provide hearing therapy and aural rehabilitation therapy.
12. Court report writing, record keeping, medical referral scheduling.
13. Conduct hearing screenings.
14. Other duties as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. A master’s degree in audiology is required.
2. Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) is preferred.
3. Valid Washington State ESA certification for communication disorder specialist is required.
4. Prefer candidate familiar with sign language.
