About the Job
Johnson Law Group’s Chicago Office is seeking a highly motivated newly licensed attorney to join our team. This role is an excellent opportunity for a newly licensed attorney interested in personal injury law. This is an entry-level litigation role, meaning attorneys should have a passion for in court advocacy, with the expectation they will taking cases to trial. Candidates should possess strong communication and writing skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, high-pressure environment. Responsibilities include:
- Attending and handling court status calls, motion hearings, and other court related matters
- Draft complaints, motions, and other related case documents
- Address case specific issues in real time
- Work with clients, vendors, attorneys, adjusters and the court to advance and resolve cases
- Assist senior attorneys with trial preparation
- Draft demands and negotiate settlements on behalf of clients
- Manage a caseload of clients with cases in various phases of litigation
- Review, analyze, and draft discovery requests
- Conduct depositions
- Prepare and argue motions
- Investigate facts
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD)
- Illinois State Bar required
- 0 to 2 years of experience practicing law
- Preferred mixed experience as a clerk in both a firm/clinic and/or 711 setting
- Plus if candidate has 711 courtroom experience
- Capable of independent work
- Willingness to problem solve
- Highly organized and efficient
- Superior research and writing skills
- Ability to multi-task effectively
- Strong analytical skills

Work Hours
This is a full-time onsite position, with hours generally expected from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with the expectation of working at least 50 hours per week.
