JOB TITLE: Attendance Officer
CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
REPORTS TO: Director of Attendance
JOB GOAL:
Assists with enforcing compulsory school attendance laws; acts as a liaison between PA Cyber and community agencies for school attendance related matters; provides assistance to
academies regarding student and administrative problems relating to student attendance;
communicates attendance policies and procedures to all departments.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Criminal Justice, Human Services, or related field
• Child Abuse Clearance; Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check and Federal
Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Clearance
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Confers regularly with Director of Attendance, Principals, Teachers, Academic Advisor
Department, students and parents regarding matters related to student attendance
• Acts as a liaison between school and community agencies for school attendance related
matters
• Conducts home visits when applicable
• Works with Principals, Assistant Principals, Teachers, and Academic Advisor Department
to investigate cases of prolonged student absences
• Enforces compulsory attendance laws
• Creates and implements School Attendance Improvement Plans
• Recommends strategies to support and improve regular student attendance
• Attends hearings related to truancy and provides all school records as mandated by
Subpoenas
• Performs any additional duties deemed necessary by the Director of Attendance.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk,
sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms;
climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
