MaST Schools is hiring for the position: Athletic Trainer and Programs Support. If hired, applicants must be willing to travel to and attend athletic events at any of the MaST Schools campuses or athletic facilities (including road games if assigned)
Position: Athletic Trainer and Programs Support
Department: Athletics
Reports to: Athletic Director
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree, or entry level Master’s Degree. Completion of an athletic training educational program approved by the NATA.
- Certificationby the National Athletic TrainersAssociation Board of Certification (Class A)
- CPR and First Aid Certifications required
- CPR and First Aid Instructor certified (or willingness to obtain if not already in possession of)
- Must be able to evaluate problems, prioritize work and determine solutions.
- Must be able to read, write and understand work-related directions and instructions with sufficient skills to perform effectively.
- Must be able to work unsupervised, be a self-starter, well-organized, and be able to multitask.
- Physical Requirements – Standing and/or walking most of an 8 hour day with occasional lifting of weights up to 50 lbs and frequent lifting of weights up to 25 lbs. Frequent bending, crouching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching, stair climbing, and standing unassisted. Occasional transferring of patients exceeding 200 lbs, frequent transferring of patients exceeding 100 lbs. Frequent writing, handling of materials and documents, palpating, and fine finger motions.
- Visual Requirements – Continuous near vision, depth perception, accommodation, full field of vision or compensatory ability, eye hand coordination, far acuity, and ability to read hand-written documents.
- Hearing Requirements – Continuous normal conversation, frequent telephone conversation at normal volumes, occasional conversation at low voice volumes.
- Working Conditions – Limited exposure to potentially hazardous substances. Frequent exposure to body fluids and patients who are incontinent and/or confused. Occasional exposure to patients who are combative and/or verbally abusive. Treatment areas may be noisy and crowded with limited climate control.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Pennsylvania motor vehicle license.
- Knowledge of Google docs/sheets and email.
- Must possess and maintain valid Pennsylvania school clearances.
- Must be able to travel campus to campus as needed
- Flexible scheduling required

Job Overview:The Athletic Trainer provides therapeutic care to individuals suffering injuries as a result of school activities by utilizing modalities and therapeutic exercise upon referral to relieve pain, prevent disability, develop and improve skills and restore function.
Responsibilities:
- Working with coaches, athletes, and medical professionals to evaluate the player's condition.
- Creating exercise and nutrition plans.
- Speaking to coaches, family members, and athletes to set health and fitness goals.
- Designing training and rehabilitation programs for athletes.
- Using knowledge of sports-related injuries to diagnose and treat athletes.
- Referring athletes to another doctor or other medical staff members.
- Assisting and monitoring injured players as they heal and progress towards recovery.
- Maintaining records relating to athlete condition and training, diet, and treatment plans.
- Handling clerical tasks, such as completing school reports, maintaining inventory, assisting with budgets, or restocking supplies.
- Ensure compliance with school board policy on concussion management
- Assist with pregame event setup for home and away players and referees
- Provides athletic training for athletes before, during, and after practices and games
- Acts as an athletic site manager during practices when needed
- Opens the building/fields as needed for teams
- Develops and manages Fitness Center workout plans and nutrition for athletes
- Assists with athletic game confirmations with refs and other schools
- Compiles student athlete data and eligibility
- Assists with social media and promotional needs for athletics and student athletes as needed
- Assists with set up and readying of fields when necessary
- Assists with evening/weekend rentals of athletic facilities
- Conduct and maintain records of CPR + First Aid trainings for all athletic coaches
- Assists other departments as assigned during the summer months when athletics aren’t in session
- Coordinates and manages summer camps as needed
- Any other task or duty assigned by supervisor
Professional Obligations:
- Enforce administration policies and rules governing students.
- Collaborate with administrators in developing, evaluating, and revising school programs.
- Prepare reports on students and activities as required by the administration.
- Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and training workshops to maintain and improve professional competence.
- Attend staff meetings, and have the opportunity to serve on committees.
- Adhere to Professional Standard of Conduct, including confidentiality, code of ethics, and appropriate internet use, as outlined in the Policy and Procedures manual and Staff Handbook.
- Follow all approved board of trustee and financial policies
- Perform all additional related duties and responsibilities as designated by the Local Administration, CEO, or Network Team.
Terms of Employment: Twelve (12) months. Contract terms and salary to be determined by the Board of Trustees.
Evaluation: The performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of state law, administrative code, and the Board’s policy on the evaluation for this position.
