Situated on the ancestral homeland of the Tongva Peoples, Chaffey College is one of the oldest community colleges in California and serves a variety of communities, workforce partners, and students. While other community colleges are often named after their geographic area, Chaffey College is named after local innovator, George Chaffey, who, among other things, implemented street lights in the city of Ontario. To support the diverse needs of these populations and their intersections, the College has developed a variety of robust equity-driven efforts in and out of the classroom including the Center for Culture and Social Justice, Panther Care, Rising Scholars, Success Centers, GPS Centers, and BLOOM training.Under direction and in line with the college's vision, mission, and institutional goals, is responsible for the planning, organization, and administration of the district's intercollegiate athletic program.Responsibilities
- Develop, direct, and supervise men's and women's intercollegiate athletic program, including recruiting, scheduling, staffing, budget development and management, and game management;
- Ensure compliance with all rules, regulations, procedures, and policies for the intercollegiate athletics program as established by the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA), representative athletic conference(s), the NCAA, and Chaffey College policies and procedures;
- Assume responsibility for the program's compliance with Title IX objectives and conducts regular meetings and training to promote strict adherence among personnel and student athletes to conference and state athletic rules, regulations, and codes, including student eligibility guidelines;
- Responsible for the accurate completion and submission of the Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act (EADA);
- Provide leadership in college initiatives impacting student athletes, including guided pathways philosophies, and reduction of disproportionate impact on students identified in the college's student equity plan;
- Recruit, supervise, and participate in the selection and recommendation of coaching and assigned staff;
- Organize and administer programs of intercollegiate competition; administer scheduling of events and facilities;
- Supervise and facilitate supervision of athletic contests;
- Conduct eligibility workshops for athletes and teams, and provide support to eligibility clerk in determining eligibility of athletes;
- Communicate with other administrators, district personnel, and contractors to coordinate activities and programs, resolve issues and conflicts, and exchange information;
- Manage the sports information program ensuring the timely, accurate, and professional dissemination of information and develop and implement an effective marketing and promotional program;
- Represent the college at conferences and state athletic meetings and to the community, other schools, and organizations regarding the athletic program;
- Work closely with the director of the Chaffey College Foundation to coordinate fundraising efforts for assigned programs;
- Facilitate the Athletics Hall of Fame selection process and recognition in coordination with the Alumni Relations office;
- Conduct regular program review and evaluation;
- Coordinate the use, maintenance, and security of equipment and facilities;
- Participate in shared governance through service on college governance and other committees;
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree;
- One (1) year of formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrative assignment;
- Knowledge of:
- Rules and regulations of the intercollegiate sports offered by the college; rules and policies of the NCAA, NCIA, and CCCAA which govern community college sports;
- General principles of organization, management, employee supervision, and training;
- Effective research, analytical, and report writing techniques.
- Ability to:
- Plan, organize, direct, and administer a program of intercollegiate athletics;
- Analyze, evaluate, and recommend innovative changes to existing programs;
- Direct the work of others;
- Facilitate conflict resolution;
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing;
- Evaluate needs, present recommendations, and make oral and written presentations.
- Demonstrated evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds in a community college environment.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS- Experience in a community college;
- Demonstrated experience implementing equity and access for disproportionately underserved groups;
- Experience as a faculty member in the discipline or as a head coach;
- Experience with supervision, budgeting, and program coordination;
- Fundraising experience.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
This is a full-time, 12-month, management position, Level III, Range 23 of the Management Salary Schedule with starting salary of Step A, $11,264/month. Effective date of employment will be as soon as a successful candidate is selected and a mutually agreed upon date is determined.
Being able and ready to work in-person with Chaffey College students, employees, partners, contractors, or other members of the Chaffey College community is an essential function of this job.

The Selection Process
