Job Description
Under the general supervision of the Associate Director of Education, the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADN) Informatics is responsible for the assessment, planning, training, implementation, evaluation and optimization of nursing informatics projects. The ADN Informatics serves as the primary interface between nursing, patient care services and Information Services to ensure multi- and inter-disciplinary project coordination. ADN Informatics also participates in communications and project planning regarding system implementation and integration with other UWHC initiatives. ADN Informatics is knowledgeable about the nursing process and nursing practice, relevant regulatory mandates, and principles of quality/safety improvement. The nursing informatics projects are planned and implemented using evidence-based practices for planning, understanding, guiding and delivering responsible nursing care. Performs related work
Minimum Qualifications
- Licensed and currently registered to practice as a professional nurse in New York State, plus (2) or (3), below.
- Masters Degree in Nursing Administration, Education, Clinical Specialty or equivalent field and five years of satisfactory nursing experience, of which three years shall have been in a supervisory or teaching capacity; or a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing and six years of satisfactory nursing experience, four years of which shall have been in a supervisory or teaching capacity.
- A satisfactory equivalent of education and experience. However, all candidates must be licensed and currently registered to practice as a Professional Nurse in New York State.
Department Preferences
- 3+ years of Nursing experience in an Acute care hospital
- Preferred Three (3) years of clinical and/or informatics-related experience
- Masters in Nursing Informatics preferred or in pathway while employed
- Project management experience preferred
- Experience leading a project resulting in positive change management preferred
- Excellent communication (both oral and written), interpersonal, organization, presentation skills.
- Proficient is Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Preferred experience in process analysis, data analysis, project management and facilitation
- Strong attention to detail, highly organized, Evidence of ability to function with a high degree of independence while actively collaborating with health care members providing care for highly complex patients
- Knowledge of the nursing process and nursing practice
- Knowledge of mandates of regulatory and accrediting bodies
- Knowledge of current literature that impacts technology/information needs as well as financial management
