Position Summary:
The SK Life Science Labs (fka Proteovant Therapeutics) Biology group continues to grow with an exciting opportunity for a lab-based scientist to join our team and accelerate our drug discovery efforts. In this role, you will support multi-disciplinary teams to identify, develop, and implement methods to support new target identification, translational biology, and mechanism of action for the development of protein degraders for cancer, immune-oncology, immunology, and other therapeutic areas. You will work in collaboration with chemistry, structural biology, DMPK, bioinformatics, and additional matrix team members to drive programs through all phases of drug discovery and translational science.
Responsibilities:
- This is a lab-based role in the biology department, reporting to Director of Biology
- Apply state-of-the-art drug discovery approaches as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Contribute to the design, development, and execution of innovative cell-based assays to support progression of programs through all phases of drug discovery
- Analyze, interpret, summarize, and present research findings at project team meetings, and leadership meetings
- Ensure data quality and data integrity
- Contribute to target triage and prioritization
Qualifications:
Required
- M.S. with 2+ years or B.S. with 4 + years of drug discovery laboratory experience in academic/biotech setting and/or pharmaceutical setting (6+ years of industry experience for Senior Scientist consideration)
- Experience with mammalian cell culture including cancer cell lines
- Experience with high-throughput cell-based assays such as fluorescent/luminescent plate-reader based activity assays and/or multi color flow cytometry
- Experience with molecular biology techniques, such as real-time PCR, sh/siRNA, transfection/transductions, Western blot, and ELISA.
- Demonstrated ability to design, conduct, and analyze cell-based assays for evaluating small molecule activity
- Experience using statistical software such as GraphPad Prism
- Capable of both working independently and collaborating effectively in a team environment
Desired
- Background in oncology, immune-oncology or immunology is preferred
- Experience in high-throughput degrader assays (HiBit, In-Cell Western)
- Knowledge base in small molecule protein degradation via proteosome system and biology of ubiquitin-proteasome system (UPS), heterobifunctional or molecular glue degraders
- Assay development and general expertise in the field of protein-degradation related cell-based assays
- Strong problem-solving ability in a science-driven organization
- Ability to critically analyze and interpret data with common software tools (Excel, Spotfire, Vitro/Vivo)
- Effective data documentation communication with common software tools (electronic lab notebook, PowerPoint)
- Experience in assay automation
