Summary:
Vaxcyte is looking for an energetic and talented individual to play a key supporting role in the Formulation Development function. Vaxcyte is focused on the development of protein conjugate vaccines. They would support manufacture of drug products to support analytical and process development groups within the Drug Product Team. In addition, they would also support scientists in the execution of large and complex experimentation as well as routine studies and testing.

Summary:
Vaxcyte is looking for an energetic and talented individual to play a key supporting role in the Formulation Development function. Vaxcyte is focused on the development of protein conjugate vaccines. They would support manufacture of drug products to support analytical and process development groups within the Drug Product Team. In addition, they would also support scientists in the execution of large and complex experimentation as well as routine studies and testing.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for manufacture of complex drug product formulations for use in analytical and process development, validation of assays etc.
- Organizing formulation development lab benches and storage space, setting up weekly cleanup schedules with the team, fridge space management and maintaining the lab to meet safety standards.
- Support the scientist in execution of experiments, testing samples, and as well as data interpretation.
- Prepare buffers and lab reagents for use in manufacturing and testing activities.
- Being scientifically accurate and keeping of excellent written records of experiments undertaken.
- This position will report into the Formulation Development line and be part of the wider Process Development and Manufacturing group. Significant partnerships with the Analytical and Process Engineering teams will occur, thus ability to work within this collaborative environment is essential.
- This role will require the incumbent to be agile in both thought processes and practical execution. In addition, being scientifically pro-active within the small group will be encouraged.
- This role will require the incumbent to stand and sit at a desk for long hours, work in biosafety cabinets, lift heavy boxes and move heavy objects.
Requirements:
- BS in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Organic/ Biochemistry, Chemical / Biochemical Engineering, Biology, Chemistry or a related discipline with 0-2 years of industrial experience. Some industrial experience preferred.
- Experience in calculating buffer recipes and preparing buffers and laboratory reagents is required.
- Demonstrates highly efficient, organized, and methodical work practices encompassing practical lab tasks, notebook maintenance, and comprehensive record keeping. Prior experience with an Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) system is preferred.
- Previous experience working with external vendors preferred but not required.
- Experience with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) is required. An understanding of analytical statistical analysis is also preferred. Familiarity with Graphpad and JMP is also desirable.
- Attention to detail and excellent skills in pipetting and sample preparation.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment on multiple projects.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
