Random House Children’s Books, a division of Penguin Random House, is looking for a Sales Manager to join the Children’s Mass Merchandise team. This position will be responsible for selling and managing title bases, promotions, and our business relationship at Target, Walmart and Readerlink for our Random House Children’s client titles. This exciting opportunity requires regular contact with the retail and distributor buying teams as well as internal departments to provide feedback regarding sell in, market trends, sales patterns, and inventory needs.
Specific responsibilities include:
• Overseeing the sales, marketing and merchandising of all Random House Children’s Books client titles to Target, Walmart and Readerlink.
• Running and analyzing daily, weekly, monthly, etc. sales reports to manage account inventory levels and identify opportunities for growth.
• Remaining up to date on Random House Children’s Books client titles, authors, industry related trends, and competitors.
• Attending and participating in client sales conferences.
• Participating in account business reviews.
• Traveling to the account’s office seasonally for sell in calls.

• Minimum of 2 years of sales experience; Minimum of 5 years sales experience to be considered at the Manager level
• Strong analytical and organizational skills
• Ability to work well under pressure, follow up as needed, and meet strict deadlines
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills
• Proactive and able to problem solve
• Ability to adapt within a rapidly evolving environment
• Must be self-motivated, but with the ability and willingness to work in a team environment
• Ability to travel domestically via train, plane, as needed for in person account presentations
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
The salary for the Associate position is $63,000 and the salary range for the Manager level is $70,000 - $80,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subjected to company results.
