We are committed to providing a wide array of services to effectively meet the changing needs within the community. These services include counseling and psychiatry, substance use treatment, mobile and residential crisis stabilization, intensive in-home, community support teams, peer support and group homes.
ACS is seeing a full-time Associate Professional to service clients in the Murphy, NC area.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate knowledge, skills and abilities required by the population served. Competence shall be demonstrated by exhibiting core skills including: technical knowledge; cultural awareness; analytical skills; decision-making skills; interpersonal skills; communication skills; supervision skills; and clinical skills.
- Participate in the initial development, implementation, and ongoing revision of the Treatment Plan or Person-Centered Treatment Plan.
- Assist with the development of relapse prevention and/or disease management strategies.
- Provide psycho-education, as indicated in the Treatment Plan or Person-Centered Plan.
- Provide behavioral and/or substance abuse treatment interventions, as indicated in the Treatment Plan or Person-Centered Plan.
- Assist with crisis interventions.
- Communicate the consumer’s progress and the effectiveness of the strategies and interventions to the Team Leader, as outlined in the Person Centered Plan.
- Regularly seek consultation from appropriate supervisory staff, provide detailed information regarding significant issues affecting consumers, and accept and implement feedback.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Basic Job Specifications/Pre-employment Requirements:
- Must have, or acquire during orientation period, knowledge and understanding of privacy ensuring procedures.
- Must have certification, or attain certification during orientation period, for First Aid, CPR, restrictive airways remediation and Blood-borne Pathogens.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and regular access to a reliable motor vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage.
Prior Experience and Other Preferences:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must not have any substantiated findings of abuse or neglect with the North Carolina Health Care Personal Registry.
- Must divulge any criminal convictions and submit to a criminal background check.
- Preferably have experience working in a team setting.
- Must have the ability to relate positively to children and adults of all ages, races, socioeconomic backgrounds, and abilities.
- Preferably have past work experience in social services, education, or a related field.
Educational Requirements:
Graduate of a college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in a human service field with less than one year of full time, post-graduate accumulated MH/DD/SA experience with the population served or a substance abuse professional with less than one year of full-time, post-graduate degree accumulated supervised experience in alcoholism and drug abuse counseling OR
- Graduate of a college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in a human service field with less than two years of full-time, post-bachelor's degree accumulated MH/DD/SA experience with the population served, or a substance abuse professional with less than two years of full-time, post-bachelor's degree accumulated supervised experience in alcoholism and drug abuse counseling.
- Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in a field other than human services with less than four years of full-time, post-bachelor's degree accumulated MH/DD/SA experience with the population served, or a substance abuse professional with less than four years of full-time, post-bachelor's degree accumulated supervised experience in alcoholism and drug abuse counseling.
- Registered nurse who is licensed to practice in the State of North Carolina by the North Carolina Board of Nursing with less than four years of full-time accumulated experience in MH/DD/SA with the population served
