Manager Role Description and Requirements
How you’ll contribute
The MANAGER of Patient Advocacy & Relations, Oncology will partner with select national and regional patient advocacy groups and select national medical societies to advance United Therapeutics Oncology objectives in current and future therapeutic areas, patient communities, and geographies. This role is responsible for building a strategic plan for identifying and strengthening relationships, developing partnerships and collaborations, and continuing to position UTO as a thought leader and valued partner with patient and medical communities through active engagement.
+ Represent the company and acts as its liaison with industry associations and patient advocacy groups. Attend trade and professional meetings critical to the company’s success, independently managing patient advocacy group relationships with minimal oversight
+ Develop and oversee strategic plans for assigned patient advocacy and medical societies, ensuring alignment with company business strategy, plans, annual budgets, and business reviews
+ Support the execution of sponsorships and programs to optimize patient outcomes throughout the product life cycle
+ Identify, cultivate, and maintain relationships with key influencers and organizations essential to achieving business objectives
+ Lead patient ambassador programs and patient advisory panels, focusing on current and future therapeutic areas, predominantly pediatric oncology
+ Ensure effective cross-functional collaboration with field-based medical, brand, market access, and other key stakeholders to manage relationships and execute patient advocacy and medical society strategy
+ Oversee company-sponsored patient advocacy events and forums, engaging UT employees to understand the special needs of patient groups
+ Monitor competitive activity and industry trends to inform strategy and execution
+ Demonstrate clinically accurate product and disease state knowledge during interactions with internal and external customers
+ Serve as a representative of the organization to both internal and external regional groups, ensuring accurate and up-to-date communication regarding organizational activities and industry trends
+ Manage budgets and forecasting for patient advocacy and sponsorship activities, ensuring financial alignment with strategic goals
+ Ensure adherence to company policies, quality system requirements, and other legal and regulatory directives
+ Stay current with new developments and ideas in advocacy relations, incorporating them into program development and execution
+ Perform other duties as assigned
For this role you will need
Minimum Requirements
+ Bachelor’s Degree AND 8 years of experience in advocacy or similar roles that involve engaging with patient groups OR a Master’s Degree AND 6 years of experience in advocacy or similar roles that involve engaging with patient groups
+ Ability to establish a presence in a patient advocacy environment and effectively connect and communicate with internal and external stakeholders
+ Strong ethical grounding with a focus on transparency and patient welfare
+ Effectively manage projects and responsibilities assigned, including ad-hoc requests
+ Demonstrate exceptional soft skills, including empathy and thoughtfulness
+ Experience working with diverse internal and external stakeholders
+ Competence with Microsoft suite of products including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams
Preferred Qualifications
+ Master’s Degree
+ At least 2 years of experience in pediatric oncology roles
+ In-depth knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and practices preferred
The salary for this position ranges from $120,000 to $150,000 In addition, this role is eligible for the Company’s short-term and long-term incentive programs.
