Job Summary:
The Associate Network Operations Specialist will fulfill the need for future Network Operations position. It is necessary to begin the extensive training process for this Associate with limited IT experience to gain the knowledge and understanding in order to support the Enterprise Network Operations role.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Work a flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends, and holidays) to support 24x7 NOC.
- Learn how to support Pipeline Operations Control desk issues related to phone systems, SCADA servers/systems, remote SCADA devices and network supported infrastructure.
- Use and maintain network management tools (Wireshark, LiveAction, NetBrain, Cisco FMC, Cisco Secure workload, Cisco APIC, Infoblox, Citect, SolarWinds, etc.) to monitor and maintain all IT network infrastructure hardware and software.
- Monitor, debug, and resolve Tier 2 Cisco infrastructure issues (routing, network hardware/software failure, configuration, WAN outages, firewalls, performance issues, etc.).
- Maintain and support configuration management of Cisco infrastructure.
- Monitor, manage, and resolve all data network circuits (DS3, T-1, MPLS, VPN, VSAT, cellular, radio links, etc.) outages, WAN/LAN utilization and packet errors.
- Monitor, debug and resolve all Tier 2 Windows 2016, 2019 and 2022 and Linux server environment based on IT standards and application/business requirements.
- Monitor debug and resolve all data center environmental management systems.
- Monitor and validate the functionality of IT supported applications.
- Monitor, debug, resolve Tier 1 and Tier 2 remote SCADA and plant control network problems.
- Manage Support Center ticket escalations concerning server administration, network infrastructure, Pipeline Control Desk, and IT applications issues.
- Support and maintain all Network Operation Center documentation (procedures, processes, and vendor information).
- Maintain ownership of NOC trouble tickets until problem is resolved.
- Support and manage report generation for network infrastructure, administration, performance, and trouble ticketing.
- Debug network and application issues with Sniffer tool to identify and resolve Tier 3 issues.
- Support and maintain critical SCADA network and domain infrastructure environment.
- Performing Support Center role during non-business hours.
- Follow strict IT security policies.
- Perform other duties as delegated by IT Management.
- Upon successful completion of adequate training, must be willing to fill any vacant Network Operations Specialist shift position when an opening becomes available.
Qualifications
- A high school degree or GED is required.
- CCNA level certification is required.
- Associate's degree or higher education in Computer Science is preferred.
- Programing knowledge in one of the following is preferred: Node.JS, Python, REST API, PowerShell.
- Strong understanding of IT Cisco network environment including routers, switches and firewalls.
- Strong understanding of the OSI model.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
- Experience in troubleshooting network issues.
- Self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision.
- Profound background in IT infrastructure and applications.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must possess strong analytical abilities to troubleshoot server and network hardware/software issues.
- Ability to work well individually or in a group and share information.
- Understanding of business strategy and the impact of IT on those strategies.
- Exceptional customer support and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work and contribute to a team environment to accomplish overall team objectives.
- Ability to work a rotating schedule.
