A recognized services organization in New Jersey is currently seeking an experienced Payroll professional to join their growing team in Newark as their new Associate Manager of Payroll.
About the Opportunity
- Start Date: ASAP
- Assignment Length: 6+ months
- Schedule: Monday to Friday
- Hours: 8:30am to 5pm
- Department: Payroll
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the daily administration of assignments of payroll agreement and non-agreement staff and their related duties and performance
- Perform timely review and verification of various types of employee life-cycle events
- Assist and support the Managers in various aspects of payroll functions including but not limited to verification, troubleshooting/resolution of timekeeping system issues, data issues, sign-offs for all agreement and non-agreement employees
- Support the Managers in the accurate and timely processing of special pays
- Reconcile and transmit payroll data to General Ledger, Accounts Payable, the bank and third-party vendors
- Perform general ledger account reconciliations, resolve payroll bank account reconciliation issues and prepare manual journal entries as needed
- Maintain payroll for retirees, calculate monthly pension benefits, and update deductions, taxes, direct deposit and addresses
- Proactively support the year-end and holiday time payroll activities including completion of payroll as scheduled, administration of paid time-off accruals in accordance with departments' past practices and conformance of policies
- Assist with the preparation of standard and ad-hoc reports and requested analytics relative to payroll activities as requested by internal and external customers
- Collaborate with other Payroll Managers to conduct routine training and knowledge transfer of processes for all payroll functions
- Provide timely responses for internal inquiries for payroll information from employees, managers, other departments and senior management
- Perform other duties, as needed
Qualifications:
- 4+ years of related Financial Management experience, with at least 2 years of Payroll experience
- Associate's Degree
- Experience managing Payroll agreement and non-agreement staff
- Microsoft Office proficient (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Solid analytical, mathematical, and research skills
- Great interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong attention to detail
- Highly organized
Desired Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Working knowledge of ePersonality system and Oracle Discoverer
