Job Summary
This position provides analytical support to the Power Systems Management organization, which includes developing forecasts of electricity use for 1.1 million Long Island customers with annual sales of over 18,000 GWH and a summer peak load of 5,500 MW.
Candidates will interact with all members of Power Markets as well as colleagues in Finance, Energy Efficiency, Electric Operations and with Long Island Power Authority (LIPA), New York Independent System Operator
(NYISO) and New York State Dept. of Public Service (DPS). The range of activities for this position may run from analyzing and explaining customer electric use to acting as lead with other PSEG Long Island organizations for financial, resource and reliability planning. The candidate is expected to become the subject matter expert (SME) and to be able to coach and lead others.

More specifically, responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Job Responsibilities
- Monitor electricity use, weather, economic and demographic results and develop variance analyses for reporting to PSEGLI, LIPA and DPS each month.
- Participate on the NYISO's Load Forecasting Task Force (LFTF) to ensure compliance with federal, regional and New York State regulatory requirements for reliability
- Prepare written testimony and exhibits supporting PSEGLl's load forecast for DPS Rate Cases
- Respond to requests from federal, regional, state and local authorities for historical and forecasted utility data and analyses
- Develop regression models for the weather normalization and probabilistic distribution of System Peak Demand
- Create spatial load, load pocket, feeder and extreme weather forecast projections to support of Distributed System Implementation Plan (DSIP) goals under the NYS DPS Reforming the Energy Vision (REV) initiative
- Prepare operational analyses and provide recommendations for deployment of real time peak load reduction programs
- Support regulatory proceedings and forecast requirements for Fuel & Purchase Power Cost Projections, Capital Budgets, PSEGLI Integrated Resource Plan, LIPA Financing & Securitization and various ISO filings including FERC 715
- Develop hourly electric load simulations for economic dispatch production cost modeling
- Support other PSEG LI organizations by providing expertise in applied mathematics
Job Specific Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar quantitative major
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- High competence with SAS, R, S-Plus, MATLAB, SPSS, Python or another statistical software package
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrated problem solving and decision making abilities
- Excellent organizational skills with ability to handle multiple duties simultaneously
- Ability to effectively communicate at all levels. • Candidate must foster an inclusive work environment and respect all aspects of diversity
- Successful candidate must demonstrate and value differences in others' strengths, perspectives, approaches, and personal choices
Desired
- Master's degree in a quantitative discipline and/or MBA
- Energy and/or Utility Industry experience
- Industry experience with regression and econometric modeling
- Strong general understanding of electric load forecasting, load research and energy efficiency
- Working knowledge of NYISO
