About the Job
Meta seeks a tech enthusiast to serve as Product Counsel for Meta’s AI product counseling team. You will advise the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning teams on legal and regulatory issues, which will require application of complex and evolving legal frameworks to a new space. Associate General Counsel, AI Product Responsibilities:
- Serve as primary legal partner for several AI product and policy teams working on proposed AI and ML initiatives, including research and publications, to provide practical legal risk mitigation strategies for products across multiple jurisdictions
- Lead consensus building across legal and coordinate legal advice across complex and multifaceted legal issues such as data protection and privacy, IP, intermediary liability, consumer protection, security, e-commerce, payments, integrity and other global legal frameworks.
- Review global products, features, platforms and initiatives to provide practical legal risk mitigation strategies for products across multiple jurisdictions.
- Coordinate with public policy, communications, product management, engineering, product marketing, trust and safety, and other cross-functional teams on external communications, policy development, and product development and launches
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications:
- J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent)
- Active membership in at least one US state bar and eligibility to obtain registered in-house counsel status (if required by the State Bar in the assigned work location)
- 8+ years of legal experience as a practicing attorney, including at a law firm and/or in-house or government experience
- Demonstrate business judgment and client counseling skills
- Effective communication skills
- Experience working cross-functionally
- Experience with product or regulatory counseling related to areas of law such as consumer protection, privacy, data security, and intellectual property law
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Qualifications:
- Product counseling experience with building and supporting products
- Prior in-house experience at a technology company
- Understanding of AI and ML practices and underlying technology
