Associate Electrical Engineer
Maywood, IL
12-month contract with intention to convert full time
Pay Rate: $30.00 - $38.00 (Depending on experience)
One of the largest electric and utilities clients is seeking to hire an Associate Electrical Engineer. As an Associate Electrical Engineer, you would work alongside a team of engineers to develop high-level project diagrams for distribution automation systems supporting the energy grid across the greater Chicago area. You will receive hands-on training and mentorship from senior-level engineers to fully understand electrical distribution and operations.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM program (Electrical Engineer, Math, Physics, Computer Engineering)
- 1+ years of electrical engineering related experience (internship, project work, bootcamps, etc.)
- General knowledge or experience with power flows, circuitry, device communication, schematics, amps, voltage, wattage, modeling, etc.
- Enthusiasm for learning and asking questions
- Strong communication skills to have productive collaboration with other associate electrical engineers, managers, and mentos.
- Willing to travel onsite to Maywood Tech Center location 3 days max per week.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Support the distribution automation to ensure no conflicts with existing project diagrams
- Use research to develop high-level plan and ensure cost feasibility before proceeding with work.
- Create project diagrams for installations of distribution automation feeder devices across the energy grid.
- Receive feedback and corrections to distribution automation scheme and project diagrams and return correction in a timely manner
- Perform Data Maintenance on all affected feeders to produce an accurate steady-state model on CYME during System Peak load conditions.
- Utilize CYME model, Mapping (GIS, Operating Maps, etc), and other technical tools to ensure electrical and construction feasibility of distribution automation scheme and proposed distribution automation project diagram (PD)
- Adhere to guidelines set forth in distribution automation training and project diagram checklist
- Develop accurate Cost Estimate for all work.
Additional Potential Responsibilities:
- Develop settings for 4kV,12kV and 34kV DA schemes.
- Analyze and document Distribution Automation events in DA Event Log
- Review proposed line sensor locations against program criteria.
- Review proposed NOJA locations against program criteria.
- Other assigned Distribution Automation Engineering duties yet to be determined.
