Job Description
Purpose of Position:
Under direction of the Director of Respiratory Care (DRC), performs and manages a diverse range of responsibilities focused on assisting in the oversight of all aspects of the Respiratory Care Department activities across the health care setting. Assists in leading the respiratory therapy services, focusing on clinical education, quality assurance, and staff development. Responsible for upholding the highest standards of patient care, leverages advancements in respiratory therapy and providing leadership in the DRC’s absence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops and implements comprehensive clinical education programs for respiratory therapy staff, focusing on enhancing clinical skills and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Creates and maintains all respiratory therapy competency training, in accordance with federal, state, local regulations, and The Joint Commission standards.
- Establishes and oversees quality assurance protocols to maintain and enhance the standards of respiratory therapy services. Conducts regular audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement and implements corrective actions, as necessary.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to ensure that evidence-based practices are implemented and regulatory standards are met, and offers consultative services to medical and nursing staff.
- Designs and conducts training programs focusing on the latest advancements in respiratory therapy. Provides mentorship and guidance to staff members, enhancing their professional growth and development and fosters a collaborative and supportive work environment that encourages continuous learning and improvement.
- Stays informed on the latest global trends and best practices, anticipating emerging issues and evaluating and integrating innovative methodologies and technologies into the Respiratory Care Department; attends conferences, workshops, and other professional development events.
- Assists with day-to-day oversight of the Respiratory Care Department and maintains legal and accreditation compliance by developing policy positions to anticipate emerging issues.
- Performs other duties as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications
1. A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university in Health Administration, Public Administration or approved related program; and,
2. Six years of full-time, paid experience of progressively responsible level in hospital administration with particular emphasis on development and evaluation of health care delivery services; or,
3. A Masters Degree from an accredited college or university in Hospital or Health Administration, Health Care Planning, Public Health, Administrative Medicine, Business Administration, Public Administration or approved related program; and,
4. Five years of full-time, paid experience as indicated in (2); or,
5. A satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
