Objective
We are seeking an experienced Associate Director of Human Resources to oversee HR functions across multiple locations, including four retail sites, a production/distribution facility, and our corporate location in Armonk, NY. This role will play a crucial part in implementing our HR strategy and ensuring effective human resources practices across our expanding operations.
This role will serve as true business partner for the New York business, collaborating and providing sound insight and transparent guidance to leaders ensuring compliance with critical policies, regulations, and statutes.
Strategically partner with Corporate Leadership on all aspects of Integration and Transformation to include organizational realignment, up-skilling of talent, targeted training and development, and revamping leadership and internal programs to infuse new diverse talent into the organization.
Partner and collaborate with multiple levels of executive leadership to communicate and implement HR programs to achieve business goals and drive results for 200+ employees.
In this role you will:
Coach managers, employees and direct staff on workplace issues and opportunities. •
Develop targeted succession planning focused on current and future organizational needs.
Drive diversity, recruiting and retention strategies. • Provide supervisory oversight to HR Generalist in Production Facility
Strategic HR Management: Develop and implement HR strategies that align with the company's goals and address the unique needs of retail, manufacturing, and corporate environments.
Employee Relations: Act as a point of contact for employee concerns and conflicts, ensuring fair and effective resolution.
Labor Relations: Manage relationships with union(s) and handle labor-related issues, negotiations, and compliance.
Compliance & Policies: Ensure compliance with state and federal labor laws and regulations. Update and enforce HR policies and procedures.
Talent Acquisition: Oversee recruitment and onboarding processes for various locations. Partner with hiring managers to attract and retain top talent.
Performance Management: Implement performance management systems and support managers in employee development and performance evaluations.
Training & Development: Develop and deliver training programs tailored to different locations and functions.
HR Reporting: Maintain accurate records and prepare HR reports for management
What you will need to be successful:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Familiarity with collective bargaining agreements, grievance procedures, and union negotiations.
- HR certification (e.g., PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP) is a plus.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Human Resources Management.
- Demonstrated strong judgment and proven ability to diagnose issues, drawing on both professional experience and strategic thinking skills to drive appropriate solutions with self-initiative.
- Strong business acumen and ability to work well across different functions in order to develop and integrate HR and business strategies.
- Intellectual curiosity with innate desire to learn how things work.
- Energized by high change environments and is comfortable with ambiguity.
- A high level of ownership, accountability, and sense of urgency.
- Proven, creative problem solver with both breadth and depth of experience across the HR function.
- Strong communication skills.
- Organizational skills with ability to multitask.
- Computer skills (Microsoft Office suite, Google, Workday, etc.)
- Ability to travel as needed, which includes overnight travel, around 40% of the time.
