Responsibilities:
1. Oversee and manage all aspects of the company's financial accounting functions, including but not limited to, the preparation and analysis of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
2. Ensure compliance with GAAP, STAT, and regulatory filings.
3. Develop and implement effective accounting policies and procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial data.
4. Coordinate with external auditors and manage the audit process to ensure the timely completion of audits.
5. Provide leadership and direction to the accounting team, fostering an environment of continuous learning and improvement.
6. Liaise with other departments to improve financial reporting and decision-making processes.
7. Participate in strategic planning and contribute to the overall success of the company by providing financial insights and recommendations.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. An advanced degree such as a Master's in Business Administration or a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred.
2. Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in financial accounting, preferably in the insurance industry.
3. Proven experience with GAAP, STAT, and regulatory filings.
4. Strong knowledge of financial accounting systems and software.
5. Excellent leadership and team management skills.
6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
7. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
8. High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
9. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
10. Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
